  15. KLBENCH is a suite of system performance tests that will
  16. help you determine the performance of an individual
  17. sub-system or the overall balance of all the sub-systems
  18. working together. KLBENCH consistes of VIDEO, DISK and
  19. MEMORY/CPU tests that can be run in a truly multitasking
  20. scenario to fully stress your OS/2 configuration.
  21.  
  22. KLBENCH requires the VROBJ.DLL version 2 file dated
  23. 1/26/94 or later. I have included it in the .ZIP
  24. file. If you have a newer version be sure to use that
  25. version first. If you do not already have the VROBJ.DLL
  26. file then be sure to copy the one supplied to a
  27. subdirectory in that is included in your LIBPATH=
  28. statement in the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS. Typically this should
  29. be \OS2\DLL.

  31. Versions of KLBENCH prior to 1.00 have expirations after
  32. which they will no longer function. Unregistered copies
  33. will not allow concurrent (multitasking) testing and will
  34. NOT allow you to save log files. Once testing is started
  35. it can NOT be stopped until complete. It may take up to
  36. 5 seconds after all tests are complete before the main
  37. menu will respond, this is normal!

  40. The 2 BMP files MUST be in the same directory with KLBENCH
  41. or you get erroneous results on the video tests!!
  42. If you substitute your own bitmaps then your results
  43. will NOT be of any value when compared to systems
  44. using the standard supplied bitmaps!

  47. ** NOTE:
  48.     KLBENCH uses OS/2 REXX which MUST be installed
  49.     on your system for KLBENCH to function. REXX is
  50.     part of the standard OS/2 install unless you
  51.     specifically delete it.

  54. ** DISCLAIMER:
  55.     The results generated by KLBENCH are NOT precise
  56.     actual measurements of hardware performance.
  57.     The reults are instead a value generated by the testing
  58.     that includes OS/2 and REXX overhead. These numbers
  59.     should in no way be used in comparison against
  60.     results of other OS/2 or non-OS/2 benchmarks.
  61.     These results are only valid when compared to
  62.     other results from a system using the SAME VERSION
  63.     of KLBENCH.

  66. KL-BENCH 2.0 is planned for mid 1995 release. It will be rewritten
  67. in C to provide more accurate statistics! The FREE preliminary TEXT based
  68. engines for KL-BENCH 2.0 can be downloaded from numerous places
  69. including COMPUSERVE as KLB150.ZIP

  74. KLBENCH can be registered for $10 if received prior to 8/1/94,
  75. after which the normal regsitration will be $25. The
  76. registration for KLBENCH is also valid for KL-ZIP, Schedule-IT!, and any
  77. future PHANTASM SOFTWARE products for OS/2 through the end of 1995.
