This archive was composed by hps and contains alternative
keyboard drivers for DOS, Windows 3.x and OS/2. It is most
usefull for German users, as it corrects the behaviour of the
normal German drivers, which have only a Shift Lock instead
of a Caps Lock (i. e. when you press the CapsLock key on a
German keyboard, all character are shifted, not just the
letter keys.
Albeit the drivers from the archive may be usefull for
US-users, because for K3 (DOS) and TRIEBTAT (Windows) the
sources are included. KBDREDEF may or may not work on US-OS/2.
At least it seems it requires a line of the following form
in CONFIG.SYS:
DEVINFO=KBD,GR,C:\OS2\KEYBOARD.DCP
Such a line is inserted automatically on German versions of
OS/2. For US-keyboards you may try the above line with "US"
instead of "GR". Sorry I can't test this. As KBDREDEF may
be switched on/off with a hotkey, it may be usefull for
US-user, e. g. for inputting the German Umlauts (äöüÄÖÜß),
in names or (this is possible) to create your own keyboard
layout.
The following files are included in this archive:
liesmich.kbd German version of this readme
readme.txt You are just reading it
DhpsKBDR.txt German description for the German keyboard
tables created by the author.
KBDREDEF.KBD German keyboard table for OS/2 Version hps

K3.ZIP keyboard driver for DOS (Freeware) aus c't 7/88
KBDREDEF.ZIP keyboard driver for OS/2 (Feeware) from Ferenc Pal
KDRIV254.ZIP keyboard driver for DOS (Shareware)

("c't" is a monthly German computer magazine)
KDRIV254 is a shareware program, you must register if you will
use it. It has a separate documentation.
K3 is only available as Source. MASM is needed, I haven't that.
Also I succeded in creating an executable with the beta version
of ALP (IBMs Assembly Language Processor from the DevCon 10) and
linking the object file with MSC linker, it wasn't stable, so
I don't distribute it (also there is no EXE2BIN in DOS 6.x nor
in MSC, but the *.EXE-file worked also - not stable).
To install TRIEBTAT, the Windows driver, insert the following
line into SETUP.INF (in your Windows SYSTEM directory) in the
section [keyboard.tables]:
ctdll = 0:kbd_ct.dll, "c't-Tastatur"
and copy KBD_DLL to a disk. Start "Control Panel" from the
group "Main" then "Country". Select the "c't-Tastatur" from
the Keyboard drop down listbox and follow the instructions.
KBDREDEF comes with its own documentation.
For the 2 programs from the magazine "c't" reprints (in German)
of the accompanying articles are available, contact:
