  6. Port Driver

  8. 1. TCP/IP port installation/printing error. Problem was due to differences between old and new methods of 
  9. initializing/enabling the IP stack.
  10. 2. Fixed protocol converter problem that caused a crash on the initial release. Problem was caused by a 
  11. problem with the build process.

  14. 1. Background updates occur without any indication to the user when searching the local subnet via the subnet 
  15. ping method and any remote subnet searches
  16. 2. A new DLL, named hpdbcs.dll, is now required for the Port driver to run. JetInst has not been modified to install
  17. this dll. You must copy the dll to the \os2\dll directory manually.
  18. 3. The code is partially converted to DBCS. This should not cause any defects but keep an eye out for mangled strings 
  19. and crashes due to string operations.

  24. 1. Discovery indicators work. UI changes to indicate that a discovery is occuring.
  25. 2. JetInst now copies hpdbcs.dll to the os2\dll directory
  26. 3. Help is now being updated with the project.

  29. 1. Error checking for entries in the IP Discovery options is incorrect and may cause a 3175 error.
  30. 2. DLC discovery options are not saved until the UI is closed
  31.  
  32. Issues
  33. 1.LAN Server 4.0 requires an MPTS CSD to update the socket version. CSD WR08210 was tested and works.
  34. 2.A seperate self extracting executable, printasd.exe, contains the new spooler pack. It was not included 
  35. the Z03 archive because of size considerations. It has its own setup routine.
  36. 3. A good area to concentrate on would be stress testing of the TCP/IP print path.
