  7.                                                                                 
  8. The IBM AnyNet IPX over SNA Gateway product is an OS/2-based                    
  9. member of the AnyNet product family that enables Novell(**) NetWare(**)         
  10. Internet Packet Exchange communication from one local area network              
  11. (LAN) to another over an existing wide area network (WAN).                      
  12.                                                                                 
  13. The gateway can be configured to provide one of four levels of                  
  14. connection support (20, 100, 250, or 500 workstations).  Once                   
  15. configured, the gateway can be resized to support a greater number              
  16. of workstations as needed.

  19. PRODUCT INSTALLATION INFORMATION

  21.                                                                                 
  22. To install the program and program documentation:                               
  23.                                                                                 
  24.   1.  Insert Diskette 1 into your A: drive.  On an OS/2 command                 
  25.       line, enter the following command:                                        
  26.                                                                                 
  27.         a:\install                                                              
  28.                                                                                 
  29.   2.  When the install program starts, follow the instructions on the           
  30.       screen.  if you need help completing any of the items on the panel,       
  31.       press the Help push button.                                               
  32.                                                                                 
  33.       WARNING:  On a given workstation, all AnyNet products that use            
  34.                 the ANYNETPATH environment variable should be installed         
  35.                 in the same directory.                                          
  36.                                                                                 
  37.                 As of December 31, 1994 the following AnyNet products           
  38.                 use the ANYNETPATH environment variable:                        
  39.                                                                                 
  40.                        AnyNet/2 APPC over TCP/IP                                
  41.                        AnyNet/2 SNA over TCP/IP                                 
  42.                        AnyNet SNA over TCP/IP Gateway for OS/2                  
  43.                        AnyNet IPX(**) over SNA Gateway for OS/2                 
  44.                                                                                 
  45.                 If you attempt to install multiple AnyNet products              
  46.                 that use the ANYNETPATH environment variable                    
  47.                 in two different directories, only the product                  
  48.                 you installed last can be used.  The product                    
  49.                 installed first cannot be located because the                   
  50.                 ANYNETPATH environment variable points to the AnyNet            
  51.                 product that was installed last.

  56. The following documentation provides information needed to plan, install,       
  57. configure, and diagnose the IPX over SNA Gateway product:                       
  58.                                                                                 
  59.    IBM AnyNet: Guide to IPX over SNA Gateway for OS/2 Version 1.0               
  60.                                                                                 
  61. To access the documentation you can:                                            
  62.                                                                                 
  63.    o  View the softcopy documentation using the Library Reader(**)/2            
  64.       provided in this package                                                  
  65.    o  View the softcopy documentation using BookManager(*) Read/2               
  66.    o  Print the softcopy documentation                                          
  67.    o  Print the formatted PostScript(**) documentation                          
  68.    o  Order a printed book through the IBM Marketing Center.

  71. USING THE INSTALL UTILITY TO ACCESS THE SOFTCOPY DOCUMENTATION                  
  72. ______________________________________________________________                  
  73.                                                                                 
  74. To install the program documentation on a workstation:                          
  75.                                                                                 
  76.   1.  Insert Diskette 1 in your A: drive.  On an OS/2 command                   
  77.       line, enter the following command:                                        
  78.                                                                                 
  79.           a:\install                                                            
  80.                                                                                 
  81.   2.  The "AnyNet Installation" and "Installation and Maintenance"              
  82.       windows are displayed.                                                    
  83.                                                                                 
  84.   3.  Select "AnyNet Workstation Setup" in the "Installation and                
  85.       Maintenance" window.                                                      
  86.                                                                                 
  87.   4.  Select "Action" on the menu bar and click on the "Install..."             
  88.       option.  The "Install" window is displayed.                               
  89.                                                                                 
  90.   5.  If you do not want the installation utility to automatically              
  91.       update your CONFIG.SYS file, remove the check mark from                   
  92.       "Update CONFIG.SYS" option.                                               
  93.                                                                                 
  94.       If you deselect this option, any changes that should be made              
  95.       to the CONFIG.SYS file are placed in the CONFIG.ADD file.  You            
  96.       must manually make the changes to CONFIG.SYS.                             
  97.                                                                                 
  98.   6.  Optionally, check the "Overwrite files" option.  If you do                
  99.       not select this option, the installation utility prompts you              
  100.       if it needs to overwrite an existing file with the same name              
  101.       on your system.                                                           
  102.                                                                                 
  103.   7.  Click on the "OK" button to continue the installation.  The               
  104.       "Install - directories" window is displayed.                              
  105.                                                                                 
  106.   8.  Select "IPX over SNA Gateway for OS/2 Online Documentation".
  107.                                                                                 
  108.   9. Either accept the default directory or type another directory              
  109.      in the space provided. Use the "Disk Space" button to determine            
  110.      whether there is adequate space on your hard drive to continue             
  111.      the installation.                                                          
  112.                                                                                 
  113.  10. Click on the "Install..." button at the bottom of the window to            
  114.      start the installation.  The "Install Progress" window is displayed        
  115.      and shows the status of the installation.  To cancel the                   
  116.      installation, click on the "Stop" button.                                  
  117.                                                                                 
  118.  11. When the installation is complete, exit the installation utility           
  119.      by pressing F3 twice or by closing the installation program                
  120.      windows.

  123. USING BOOKMANAGER READ/2 TO VIEW THE SOFTCOPY DOCUMENTATION                     
  124. ___________________________________________________________                     
  125.                                                                                 
  126. The install utility provides a copy of the Library Reader/2 which can           
  127. be used to view the documentation.  If you already have a BookManager           
  128. Read licensed program, you should not install the Library Reader/2.             
  129. Use the AnyNet installation program to install the BookManager book;            
  130. the installation program automatically identifies to BookManager the            
  131. directories that hold the program documentation.

  134. OBTAINING HARDCOPY DOCUMENTATION

  137. You can also obtain hardcopy documentation by printing the BookManager          
  138. documentation, printing the IBM-provided formatted PostScript                   
  139. documentation, or by ordering the guide through IBM.                            
  140.

  142. PRINTING THE BOOKMANAGER DOCUMENTATION

  144.                                                                                 
  145. To print the BookManager documentation, use the following procedures:           
  146.                                                                                 
  147.     1. Open the book to the Edition Notice.                                     
  148.     2. Select the entire book as a marked area.                                 
  149.                                                                                 
  150.        a. Place the cursor on the first character of the first word.            
  151.        b. Press mouse button 1.                                                 
  152.        c. Go to the end of the last topic in the bibliography.                  
  153.        d. Press shift+mouse button 1.                                           
  154.                                                                                 
  155.     3. Press Ctrl+P to print the book.                                          
  156.                                                                                 
  157. You must build and print each figure separately.  The table of                  
  158. contents and index are not printed.

  161. PRINTING THE FORMATTED POSTSCRIPT FILE

  163.                                                                                 
  164. You can print the formatted PostScript file on most PostScript printers.        
  165. If you are printing from OS/2 and have problems, try using the IBMNULL          
  166. device driver.  This device driver is included as part of OS/2.
