  66. PowerMac: the PowerPC 620 is just around the corner...CommonPoint and OpenDoc

  186. doing a sweep, clearing some areas when our ship took some small arms fire...we

  189. very pleased. Of course, as team leader I got the medal, but it was a total 
  190. team effort...I still get a christmas card every year from one of the guys widows...

  238. composite behavioral survey," beamed

  240.   Making positive behavior fun is 
  241. what NewSpirit is all about. The 
  242. Justice Department program, now 
  243. in its third month, is drawing rave 
  244. reviews from kids and administrators 
  245. alike.
  246.   "NewSpirit takes teens with no 
  247. hope and moves them into the 
  248. mainstream," explains project 
  249. coordinator George #667973. "We
  250. show them how to work with 
  251. society, not against it."
  252.   Problem teens are identified and 
  253. inducted through a regional board.
  254. They have their choice of working 
  255. with the passcode enforcement unit 
  256. (PEU) or TeamGreenSweep, the 
  257. environmental group.
  258.   "The program is totally self-funding,
  259. through the search and seizure 
  260. division," explains #667973. "It's a 
  261. double benefit to the public."

  272.   This holiday season the adminstration 
  273. and homeless activists came together 
  274. for an exciting new program. In 
  275. conjunction with TeamGreenSweep,
  276. Sausages for Santa proves that 
  277. Washington and special interest 
  278. groups can put aside their political 
  279. differences and work hand-in-hand
  280. toward positive social goals.
  281.   Volunteer families were selected from 
  282. a qualified pool of applicants compiled 
  283. by the Justice Department. On Christmas,
  284. these families left cured or smoked 
  285. sausages under their trees and in other 
  286. locations suggested by Justice Department 
  287. "santas". These JDSantas worked together 
  288. with TeamGreenSweep teen volunteers,
  289. providing festive "sausage hunt"
  290. community parties and courtesy 
  291. GreenViolation safety checks.
  292.   "Sausages for Santa finally gives us 
  293. a steady supply of ready-to-eat protein 
  294. at a critical time of the year for the 
  295. homeless," says activist Meg #893245.
  296. "Establishing a cyclical donation structure 
  297. is key to homeless empowerment."
  298.   Administration officials also are 
  299. enthusiastic. "Frankly, we were skeptical,"
  300. says James #647877. "But the community 
  301. response was fantastic. And we now have 
  302. a search tool that will make it past most 
  303. judges, even on appeal."
  304.   Program coordinators are currently selecting 
  305. volunteers for next Christmas. For more

  315.    I recently upgraded my 286 with a "LightSpeed" 386SX/33 motherboard. 
  316. Everthing works fine, except for 
  317. the hard drive. It's a Seagate 20mb MFM drive with a controller from my old 
  318. 8088...apparently, it has its own BIOS,
  319. and I get a configuration error from the 386 BIOS. Can I reconfigure the 
  320. controller? Also, sometimes the EGA 
  321. video card locks up when the motherboard is on "turbo". Any suggestions? -Alan #221356

  324.    You are correct that the controller has its own BIOS-this will conflict with 
  325. AT and later systems. The video 
  326. problem could be a number of different things...luckily, there is a simple solution:
  327.    #1-get a long nut-driver or screwdriver 
  328.    #2-make sure you are correctly grounded: static discharge can cause even 
  329. more controller woes!
  330.    #3-plunge the tool into your heart.
  331. This should eliminate the problem.
