Fastback/2 Warp Recovery Disks
Description:
This command file will create the necessary disks to run the Fastback
OS/2 recovery procedure under OS/2 Warp.
Installation:
You will need three blank disks to start. (Of course, if you forget,
you can always pop open another window to get them ready :). Of those
three disks, two should be for drive A: and one for B:
The script will create two boot disks - one for A: and one for B:.
When you boot, you will place both boot disks in their respective
drives, and leave them there during the boot process. Once you are at
a command prompt, you may use FDISK or FORMAT to get your boot drive
ready. When the boot hard drive is ready, you remove the disk from
drive A:, and replace it with the third disk that has been created -
the Fastback Recovery disk. At this point, just type "FBCR", and the
recovery procedure will begin.
Once the boot disks are made, there should be room to add your
favorite editor, or anything else you may need. There is quite a bit
of room on the third disk.
Limitations:
1. The script used to generate the disks is _VERY_ crude. It does no
error checking, and is designed to be used only with SCSI tape
back-ups. The main purpose of the script is to just get the right
files onto the floppies.
2. The script assumes you have two floppy drives, and they are either
1.44M or 1.2M in capacity.
2. If you have a system with another type of tape backup, you should
be able to make a few minor modifications to the CONFIG.SYS that is
generated so that it will be able to use your drive. Feel free to
e-mail me the changes at kelbe@cs.nps.navy.mil
Thanks to Mark Fuller (mfuller@indirect.com) for prompting me to
distribute this, and providing the initial command file.
