The enclosed Envelope file is an IBM Work's word processor file. It is based on
my article in the May, 1995 OS/2 Magazine. Follow these directions for using it.
Part 1: Create an Envelope Printer object on your desktop
Does Drag & Drop printing fail you when you try to print something other
than a plain portrait page? That's because you need more printer objects
on your desktop. Create a printer object for each type of page you want
to print: portrait, landscape, legal portrait, legal landscape, envelope,
etc. For example, let's create an Envelope printer: just hold the Ctrl key
and drag from your printer object to create a copy of it.
Then right-click on it, choose Settings, click on the Printer Driver tab,
then press the Job Properties... button. Now change your printer setup for
envelopes. If your printer allows it, choose manual feed, landscape, and
COM10 envelope. Go to the General page and rename it Envelope Printer.
Now close the settings notebook and you're done.
Part 2: Use the Envelope enclosed in this Zip file:
My article in the May, 1995 OS/2 Magazine showed you how to take
advantage of IBM Works. Some people had problems with setting up the
envelope, so it's enclosed with this zip file. You must set up an
Envelope Printer (see above) for this to work. Open the Envelope,
then go to File->Printer Setup... and select your Envelope Printer object,
then click Save. Change the return address to your name & address.
Press Ctrl+S to save your Works Envelope and then close it. Open the
settings notebook and select Print on Drop; close the settings notebook.
Now drag a name from the Works PIM onto the envelope. Click OK
when the dialog comes up and it should print perfectly!
