  2. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. System Monitor Task-Specific Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  4. Use this action to create a scheduled event that will collect system monitor 
  5. for a specified time period information from one or more remote systems.  Once 
  6. collected, this information can be exported to a database or saved to a 
  7. database file. 
  8.  
  9. To continue configuring your System Monitor scheduled event: 
  10.  
  11.    1. Select from the Monitors list the names of the monitors whose recorded 
  12.       data will be exported to the database. 
  13.  
  14.    2. Use the spin buttons in the Export for Time Period fields to select the 
  15.       number of hours, days, or weeks of recorded data that will be exported to 
  16.       the database. 
  17.  
  18.    3. Select OK to save this information and open the Database Selection 
  19.       window. 
  20.  
  21.    4. Select from the Database Entry Selection field the type of database data 
  22.       export you want to perform. 
  23.  
  24.       This scheduled event enables you to handle the collected System Monitor 
  25.       data in one of two ways. 
  26.  
  27.         o  Export Information to a File 
  28.  
  29.            Select this option to export the information into a file that can 
  30.            later be used to append the System Monitor data to an existing 
  31.            Netfinity database. 
  32.  
  33.            If you select Export Information to a File: 
  34.              a) Select OK to open the Save as File window. 
  35.  
  36.              b) Select a drive and directory where the file will be saved, and 
  37.                 then type in the Save as file name filed the name of the file 
  38.                 that will be created. 
  39.         o  Export Information to a Database 
  40.  
  41.            Select this option to export the information directly to a Netfinity 
  42.            database to which the managing system is attached.  If your system 
  43.            is configured to export to multiple database systems (for example, 
  44.            if your system can use both Lotus Notes and DB2 databases), there 
  45.            will be one selection available for each type of database. 
  46.  
  47.            Note:   This option will not appear if the managing system is not 
  48.            attached to or configured to use a supported database system. 
  49.  
  50.            If you select Export Information to a Database: 
  51.              a) Select OK to open the Database Selection window. 
  52.  
  53.              b) Select the database to which the System Monitor data will be 
  54.                 exported. 
  55.  
  56.  Select Cancel to close this window without saving your selections.

  61. Use the spin buttons in the Export for Time Period field group to select the 
  62. amount of minutes, hours, or days  of data that will be exported to the 
  63. database.

  68. Select from the Monitors list the names of the monitors from which the data 
  69. will be exported.

  74. Select OK to save your choices and continue configuring this scheduled event.
