ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Scheduled Events ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This field shows scheduled events and each event's current status. The
contents of the Scheduled Events field can be filtered by using the View by
Status group. If you have the All check box in the View by Status group
checked, all currently defined events will appear in this field. However, if
the All check box is unchecked, only events that are currently reporting any of
the selected statuses will appear in this field.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Status ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Scheduled events can be in any one of the following statuses:
Error The service responsible for this action has reported an error and
was unable to complete the event.
Completed All attempts to enact the scheduled event on remote systems have
completed.
Completed/Retry All initial attempts to enact the scheduled event on remote
systems have completed, and attempts to enact the scheduled event on
systems that were offline or that could not be contacted are
pending.
Scheduled The event is scheduled to run but has not run to completion at this
time.
Unknown The Netfinity Manager that this scheduled event was created by is
downlevel and does not support the reporting of event status.
Note: This status will appear only when using the Remote System
Manager to remotely access the Event Scheduler service on downlevel
Netfinity Managers.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Refresh Current Status ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Refresh Current Status to refresh the status reported by all events in
the Scheduled Events field.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. View Status Details ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select View Status Details to view detailed information about the currently
selected event's last reported status. This information includes the names and
addresses of all systems on which the event will be run, whether the event has
been submitted to the system, and whether Event Scheduler will attempt to retry
submitting the event.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. View by Status ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The contents of the Scheduled Events field can be filtered by using the View by
Status group. If you have the All check box in the View by Status group
checked, all currently defined events will appear in this field. However, if
the All check box is unchecked, only events that reporting one of the selected
statuses will appear in this field.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Scheduler Service ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Event Scheduler service enables you to easily automate many hardware
systems-management tasks. Use the Event Scheduler to create scheduled events,
execute these events automatically on multiple remote systems or entire system
groups, and maintain detailed logs of the results of these scheduled events.
You can also view, edit, or delete previously created scheduled events as
necessary.
The Scheduled Events field shows all currently defined and scheduled events,
and also shows their current status. The contents of this window are updated
when the Event Scheduler service is first started and whenever you select
Refresh Current Status. You can use the selection available in the View by
Status group to filter the contents of this window based on the status of the
event.
To create a new scheduled event, select New.
To view a previously created event, select an event from the Scheduled
Event field and then select View.
To edit a previously created event, select an event from the Scheduled
Event field and then select Edit.
To delete a previously created event, select an event from the Scheduled
Event field and then select Delete.
To close Scheduler Service window, select Exit.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. New ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select New to create a new Scheduled Event.
To create a new event:
1. Select New to open the Schedule New Event window.
2. Enter a New Event Name.
3. Select the action to be performed from the Tasks selection list. Then:
o Select Groups to perform the selected task on entire System Groups.
o Select System to perform the selected task on individual Systems.
Selecting either of these buttons opens the Schedule Groups or Systems
window.
4. Select the System Groups or Systems on which the scheduled event will be
performed. Then, select Schedule to save this information and open the
task-specific window.
5. Enter any information required by the specific task that will be
performed by the scheduled event. Then, select Save to save this
information, close the task-specific window, and open the Schedule Time
and Date window.
6. Use the Schedule Frequency selections and Schedule Date and Time field
group to configure time intervals and date- and time- specific settings
for the scheduled event. Then, select Save to save the scheduled event.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. View ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select View to display information regarding the currently selected Scheduled
Event. This will open the View Scheduled Event window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 9. Delete ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Delete to delete the currently selected Scheduled Event
To delete an event:
1. Select an event from the Scheduled Events selection list.
2. Select Delete. The selected event is then removed from the Scheduled
Events selection list and erased.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 10. Edit ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Edit to edit the currently selected Scheduled Event. This will open the
Edit Scheduled Event window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. View Log ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select View Log to open and examine the Scheduler Log.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. Exit ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Exit to close the Scheduler Service window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 13. Schedule New Event ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use this window to assign a name to the new scheduled event.
To assign a name to the new scheduled event:
1. Enter the name for the new scheduled event in the New Event Name field.
2. Select the action to be performed from the Tasks selection list. Then:
o Select Groups to perform the selected task on entire System Groups.
o Select System to perform the selected task on individual Systems.
Selecting either of these buttons opens the Schedule Groups or Systems
window.
If you do not want to continue creating a new scheduled event, select Cancel
to close the Schedule New Event window without saving any information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 14. Cancel ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Cancel to close the Schedule New Event window without saving any
information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 15. New Event Name ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Enter the name of the new scheduled event in this field. Then:
1. Select the action to be performed from the Tasks selection list.
2. Select Groups or Systems:
o Select Groups to perform the selected task on entire System Groups.
o Select System to perform the selected task on individual Systems.
If you do not want to continue creating a new scheduled event, select Cancel
to close the Schedule New Event window without saving any information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 16. Schedule New Event ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Schedule New Event window provides you with a list of actions that can be
scheduled to execute by the Event Scheduler service. Descriptions of the
actions that can be taken automatically by the Event Scheduler service are
displayed in the Tasks selection list. The selected task can be executed on
entire System Groups or on individual Systems.
To creat a new scheduled event:
1. Type in New Event Name field a name for the event that you are creating.
2. Select a service from the Tasks selection list.
3. Select either Groups or Systems.
o Select Groups to perform the selected task on entire System Groups.
o Select System to perform the selected task on individual Systems.
If you do not want to continue creating a new scheduled event, select Cancel
to close the Schedule Tasks window without saving any information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 17. System Group ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
A System Group is a logical grouping of individual Systems. These logical
groups are created and defined in the Remote System Manager service.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 18. System ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
A System is any LAN-attached computer that is running the Netfinity Manager or
Client Services for Netfinity programs. Systems are organized into logical
System Groups in the Remote System Manager service.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 19. Tasks ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Tasks selection list contains descriptions of each of the actions that can
be taken automatically by the Event Scheduler service.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 20. Schedule by: Groups ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Groups to perform the selected task on entire System Groups.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 21. Schedule by: Systems ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Systems to perform the selected task on individual Systems.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 22. Cancel ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Cancel to close the Schedule Tasks window without saving any
information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 23. Schedule Groups or Systems ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Schedule Groups or Systems window enables you to select individual systems
or entire groups on which the scheduled event will be performed.
To continue configuring the scheduled event:
1. Select the names of system groups or systems on which the scheduled event
will be performed from the Groups or Systems (Network Address) selection
lists.
2. Select Schedule to continue.
If you do not want to continue creating a new scheduled event, select Cancel
to close the Schedule Groups or Systems window without saving any information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 24. Groups ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Groups selection list contains the names of all currently defined and
configured Remote System Manager System Groups.
If you are configuring a scheduled event that will be performed on one or more
System Groups, select the names of the System Groups from the Groups selection
list. If you are configuring a scheduled event that will be performed on
individual systems, the names of all configured System Groups appear in the
Groups selection list, but cannot be selected or deselected.
When you select a Group, the names of all systems in that Group appear in the
Systems (Network Names) selection list in alphabetical order.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 25. Systems (Network Address) ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Systems (Network Address) selection list contains an alphabetical list of
the system name or network address of all LAN-attached systems running
Netfinity that have been discovered by or added to a Remote System Manager
System Group.
If you are configuring a scheduled event that will be performed on one or more
individual systems, select the names of the individual systems from the Systems
(Network Names) selection list.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 26. Schedule ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Schedule to continue configuring the scheduled event to be executed on
all selected Groups or all systems selected from the Systems (Network Names)
selection list.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 27. Cancel ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Cancel to close the Schedule Groups or Systems window without saving any
information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 28. Schedule Time and Date ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Schedule Time and Date window enables you to set the specific time and date
intervals at which the scheduled event will be executed.
To continue configuring the scheduled event:
1. Select a Schedule Frequency setting.
2. Set date- and time-specific information in the Schedule Date and Time
field group.
3. (Optional) Select any desired Schedule Options.
4. Select Save to complete configuration of the scheduled event.
If you do not want to continue creating a new scheduled event, select Cancel
to close the Schedule Time and Date window without saving any information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 29. Schedule Frequency ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Schedule Frequency button group contains six radio buttons, each of which
determines the time interval between executions of the scheduled event. The
available selections are:
o One-Time
o Hourly
o Daily
o Weekly
o Monthly
o Yearly
Note that as you select each of these buttons, only the fields necessary for
proper configuration of this time interval in the Schedule Date and Time field
group remain active.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 30. Schedule Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Two Schedule Options are available:
Retry for offline systems If you select this option, Event Scheduler will
automatically retry attempts to run the scheduled event on systems
that it is unable to connect with inititally.
Auto schedule for new systems This option is only available for events that
are scheduled to be run on all systems within a group. If you
select this option, Event Scheduler will automatically run the
scheduled event on all systems in the group, including new systems
that were added to the group after the scheduled event was created.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 31. Schedule Frequency: One Time ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select One Time if you want the scheduled event to be executed only once on a
specified date at a specified time.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 32. Schedule Frequency: Hourly ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Hourly if you want the scheduled event to be executed at a specified
time each hour.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 33. Schedule Frequency: Daily ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Daily if you want the scheduled event to be executed at a specified time
each day.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 34. Schedule Frequency: Weekly ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Weekly if you want the scheduled event to be executed on a specified day
at a specified time each week.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 35. Schedule Frequency: Monthly ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Monthly if you want the scheduled event to be executed on a specified
day or date each month.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 36. Schedule Frequency: Yearly ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Yearly if you want the scheduled event to be executed on a specified
date or day each year.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 37. Schedule Date and Time ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Schedule Date and Time field group contains fields that enable you to set
date- and time-specific information that, when combined with your selected
Schedule Frequency, will determine the dates and times at which the scheduled
event will be executed. The fields that are active depends on which Schedule
Frequency you selected. Each field features a wildcard value (a "*"). If you
select this value, the Schedule Date and Time information is created for you,
based on the current date and time.
Note that, as you alter the Schedule Date and Time values, the Next value
alters as well.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 38. Day of Week ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use the spin buttons on the right side of this field to select the day of the
week on which the scheduled event will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 39. Week of Month ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use the spin buttons on the right side of this field to select the week of the
month during which the scheduled event will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 40. Day of Month ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use the spin buttons on the right side of this field to select the day of the
month on which the scheduled event will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 41. Month ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use the spin buttons on the right side of this field to select the month of the
year during which the scheduled event will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 42. Year ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use the spin buttons on the right side of this field to select the year in
which the scheduled event will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 43. Time: Hour ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use the spin buttons on the right side of this field to select the hour of the
day at which the scheduled event will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 44. Time: Minutes ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use the spin buttons on the right side of this field to select the minutes of
the hour of the day at which the scheduled event will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 45. Current Date ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the current date.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 46. Current Time ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the current time.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 47. Next ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Next values represent the next date and time at which the scheduled event
will be executed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 48. Next Date ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the next date on which the scheduled event will be executed. If the
time, date, and frequency selected combine to create a a scheduled time that
will never occur, this field will read "NEVER."
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 49. Next Time ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the time at which the scheduled event will be executed on the scheduled
date. If the time, date, and frequency selected combine to create a a
scheduled time that will never occur, this field will read "NEVER."
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 50. Save ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Save to finish configuring the scheduled event, save all data, and close
the Schedule Time and Date window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 51. Cancel ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Cancel to close the Set Time and Date window without saving any
information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 52. Scheduler Log ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Scheduler Log contains a record of all actions taken by the Event Scheduler
service, including the name of any scheduled event, the name of the Netfinity
service that was used to execute the scheduled event, the date and time at
which the event was executed, the name of each system on which the event was
executed, and the results (success or failure) of the scheduled event on each
system.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 53. OK ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select OK to close the Scheduler Log window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 54. Clear Log ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Clear Log to delete the contents of the Scheduler Log.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 55. Refresh ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Refresh to update the Scheduler Log with the results of any scheduled
events that might have completed while the log was open.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 56. Edit Scheduled Event ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Edit Scheduled Event window shows all information for the Scheduled Event.
From this window, you can:
o change the scheduled event's Event Name.
o change the systems or system groups that the event will be performed on
with the Edit Groups/Systems function.
o change the Schedule Frequency of the scheduled event.
o change the Schedule Date and Time settings of the scheduled event.
When you have finished editing the scheduled event, select Save to save the
new scheduled event information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 57. Event Name ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the name of the scheduled event. You can change this name by entering
a new name and then selecting Save.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 58. Scheduled Systems ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This window shows the names of all systems or groups on which the scheduled
event will be performed. To edit this list, select Edit Groups/Systems.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 59. Edit Systems/Groups ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Edit Systems/Groups to edit the list of systems and groups on which the
scheduled event will be performed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 60. Save ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Save to save any changes to the scheduled event and close the Edit
Scheduled Event window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 61. Cancel ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Cancel to close the Edit Scheduled Event window without saving any
changes to the scheduled event.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 62. View Scheduled Event ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The View Scheduled Event window shows all information for the Scheduled Event.
Note that this information cannot be changed. To reconfigure a previously
created scheduled event you must select Edit from the Scheduler Service window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 63. OK ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select OK to close the View Scheduled Event window when you are finished
viewing the scheduled event.
