ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. File Transfer Service ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use File Transfer to transfer files and directories between your local system
and remote Netfinity systems. In addition to these basic file and directory
management functions, File Transfer also includes a Cleanup Assistance function
that enables you to search the contents of a remote system's disk drives for
duplicate files, files greater than a certain size, old or outdated files, or
specific filetypes. Once these files are detected, you can selectively delete
files that may be wasting valuable disk space. Finally, File Transfer enables
you to synchronize the contents of specified directories, ensuring that the
contents of entire directories on your local and remote systems match exactly.
For detailed information about File Transfer functions, see the following
topics:
o Receiving directories or files from a remote system
o Sending directories or files to a remote system
o Deleting local directories or files
o Cleaning up files on remote systems
o Synchronizing local and remote directories
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Detailed Info ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

drive should be included in the list of files reported by Cleanup Assistance.
The following criteria are available for use by Cleanup Assistance:
o Report duplicate files
o Report files larger than
o Report files older than
o Match templates
You can select any or all of these criteria, but you must select at least one.
Cleanup Assistance will report files or directories that meet any criteria
selected in the Cleanup Assistance Profile window.
In addition to these user-selectable criteria, Cleanup Assistant will not
include files that meet any of the criteria that appear in the Excluded
Results list. This list enables you to instruct Cleanup Assistance to ignore
certain files or directories on the remote system.
When you have selected and configured the criteria you want to use for this
Cleanup Assistant process, select Save to save this profile and return to the
Cleanup Assistance window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 47. Report duplicate files ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Check the Report duplicate files checkbox to instruct Cleanup Assistance to
include in the Cleanup Assistance report any files that have identical names,
dates, times, and sizes.
Note: All Cleanup Assistance criteria selections work independently.
Therefore, if you select more than one criteria, it is possible that the same
file may be reported more than once (if it matches more than one criteria).
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 48. Report files larger than ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Check the Report files files larger than checkbox to instruct Cleanup
Assistance to include in the Cleanup Assistance report any files that are
larger than the number of units specified in the fields beside this selection.
Note: All Cleanup Assistance criteria selections work independently.
Therefore, if you select more than one criteria, it is possible that the same
file may be reported more than once (if it matches more than one criteria).
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 49. Report files older than ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Check the Report files files older than checkbox to instruct Cleanup Assistance
to include in the Cleanup Assistance report any files that exceed the number of
units specified in the fields beside this selection.
Note: All Cleanup Assistance criteria selections work independently.
Therefore, if you select more than one criteria, it is possible that the same
file may be reported more than once (if it matches more than one criteria).
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 50. Match templates ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Check the Match templates checkbox to instruct Cleanup Assistance to include in
the Cleanup Assistance report any files that match any of the filetype
templates shown in the Template field.
Note: All Cleanup Assistance criteria selections work independently.
Therefore, if you select more than one criteria, it is possible that the same
file may be reported more than once (if it matches more than one criteria).
To add a filetype template to the Templates field, select New. This opens the
New Template window.
To remove a template from the Templates field, select a template and then
select Delete.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 51. Templates ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
A Cleanup Assistant template is a filetype that will be included in the Cleanup
Assistant report if it is found when Cleanup Assistance scans the remote
system's disk drive. This template can be a specific file name and file type
(for example, "README.TXT"), files with a specific filetype extension (for
example, "*.EXE"), or any other variety of these, using all standard filename
wildcards. For example, a Cleanup Assistant template that specifies files
named "A*.DOC" would result in all filenames that start with the letter "A" and
that have a "DOC" filetype to be included in the Cleanup Assistance report.
Note: The amount of time needed to perform the Cleanup Assistance scan is
directly proportional to the number of templates in use. To make the Cleanup
Assistance scan as quick as possible, keep the template list small or
temporarily disable the Match templates checkbox if you are mainly interested
in duplicate files.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 52. New ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select New to open the New Template window. From this window, you can define
additional templates for inclusion in this profile.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 53. Delete ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 54. Save ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Save to save this profile, close the Cleanup Assistance Profile window,
and return to the Cleanup Assistance window.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 55. Cancel ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select Cancel to close this window without saving any changes to your current
Cleanup Assistance Profile.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 56. Excluded Results ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Excluded Results field contains a user-defined list of fully or partially
specified file and directory names that will be ignored when detected by
Cleanup Assistance. You can use the Excluded Results to ignore specific files
that you know may fit your search criteria, but that you will not need to
consider removing from the remote system.
For example, if you are searching for files larger than 10MB but don't include
any entries in the Excluded Results field, the remote system's swapper file
will probably appear in your Cleanup Assistance report. Since you would almost
certainly not want to (or be able to) remove the swapper file from a remote
system, there is little reason to have Cleanup Assistance report that this file
appears on the remote system. In this case, you would add SWAPPER.DAT,
386SPART.PAR, PAGEFILE.SYS, or the name of the swapper file used by the remote
operating system to your Excluded Results field, save the new Cleanup
Assistance Profile, and re-analyze the remote system.
To force Cleanup Assistance to ignore specific files, enter the fully qualified
name of the file (including the drive, the full path from the root, and the
file name). For example, to exclude the file named BILL.TMP which is located
on drive D: in the \SOURCE directory, make the following entry in the Excluded
Results field:
D:\SOURCE\BILL.TMP
To force Cleanup Assistance to ignore files or directories with certain names
(no matter what drive or directory they reside on), enter the name of the file
or directory with no drive or path information and do not use wildcards. For
example, to exclude the file BILL.TMP no matter where it is found, make the
following entry in the Excluded Results field:
BILL.TMP
To force Cleanup Assistance to ignore all files or directories which reside
under a specific directory, enter the drive and path to that directory. For
example, to exclude anything found in the directory \SAVE on drive C:, make the
following entry in the Excluded Results field:
C:\SAVE\
Note: To prevent accidental exclusion of directories which begin with the
same characters (for example, \SAVETHIS or \SAVETHAT), it is a good idea to
include the trailing \ on the path specification as shown above.
