with your mouse affect the client when you work in the client window and
your workstation when you work in any other windows.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Sending OS/2 Commands to the Client ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The operating-system hot key combinations always affect your workstation and
not the client. They retain their original functions as follows:

You can use DOS boxes in both a DOS full-screen and DOS window on the OS/2
client. You can select, open, and work in one or more DOS boxes during a
session.
However, you should know the following:
o When you run a graphic application on a DOS full-screen, the image cannot be
transmitted to your workstation and you see the message, The foreground
application is in an unsupported mode and cannot be displayed.
o When you run a graphic application in a DOS window, you see the image.
o When you run a text application on a DOS full-screen, you can view your
screen and control the client keyboard.
o When you run the Personal Communications/3270 Emulation program, there is a
conflict of resources and Remote Workstation Control does not support this
program.

the client continues.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 27. Optimizing Remote Workstation Control ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
If you notice that your connection with client is slow, use the following tips
to improve performance.
o Avoid using wallpaper and background patterns in the graphic environment on
the client.
o Avoid unnecessary mouse movements on the manager. These movements use up
resources and slow down the connection.
o Use the OS/2 full screen on the client to avoid slow screen relays.
o If the two workstations are connected on a LAN you can maximize the datagram
lenght to improve performances.
To maximize the datagram length for the NetBios protocol set the
USEMAXDATAGRAM = "YES" parameter in the PROTOCOL.INI file.
Sometimes benefits can be obtained also increasing the Network Time-Out
parameter in NetFinity Network Driver Configuration both on the client and
manager workstations.
