Use the Controller Personalization window to customize controller parameters.

Hot Key
  A combination of keys that when pressed simultaneously during a DCAF session
  allows you to change the current state of operation.  The hot key is
  activated only when your workstation is in active mode.

  The hot key combination is composed of the Alt key and another key of your
  choice pressed simultaneously.  The default hot key is Alt+T.

   o Enter the value for the second key.
   o The range is A - Z.

Enable Message Log
  Tracks informational and error messages for the controller.

  Select Enable Message Log to use this option. If you check this option, you
  will enable the Log File Name entry field.

  Otherwise, deselect it.

Message Display Time in Seconds
  The length of time that a message is displayed on the screen.  The default
  (99) displays the message indefinitely until it is acknowledged by the user.

   o Place the cursor in the box and then click on the up or down arrow to
     increase or decrease the number.
   o The range is 0 - 99.

Log File Name
  The name of the file that tracks informational and error messages for the
  controller. It will be installed where DCAF is installed.

  If you do not select Enable Message Log, this field is unavailable.

  It can be 1-8 characters long with a 3-character extension.

  For character guidelines, follow OS/2 filename conventions.

  Otherwise, use the default option.

  Note:   Do not use BAT, CMD, COM, DAT, DIR, DLL, EXE, or REC as the filename
  extension.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Use the DOS Target Personalization window to customize the setup options for
the DOS target workstation.

Start DCAF Sessions in Active Mode
  Allows the target workstation to start-up in Active mode.

  Select to enable this option (i.e., to start up in Active mode).

  Otherwise, deselect to disallow this option.

Enable Unload the Program
  Allows the DCAF DOS Target program to unload from memory.

  Select to use this option (i.e., to unload the DOS target program from
  memory).

  Otherwise, deselect to disallow this option.

Enable Session Termination
  Allows the target to end a session with a controller.

  Select to use this option (i.e., to allow the target workstation to end a
  session with the controller).

  Otherwise, deselect to disallow this option.

Enable the Target to be Secure
  Designates the target workstation as a secure target workstation with secure
  session communication.

  Note:   This option is determined at installation only.  It can be changed
  only if you deinstall this component and then reinstall it.

  Select to enable this option (i.e., the DOS target workstation is designated
  as a secure target).

  Otherwise, deselect to disallow this option.

 1. Click on the up or down arrow to scroll through the list.

 2. Select the desired option to be personalized.

    personalizing on the new window, this window will reappear.

Use the Hot Key Information window to set and enable the DOS target workstation
hot key combination.

The DOS target workstation hot key combination allows you to interrupt and
change the current state of operation.

The hot key combination is composed of two keys pressed simultaneously.

The default is Left Shift Key + Right Shift Key

Note:   Key 1 must be different from Key 2.

Enable Hot Key
  Select to use the hot key combination.

  If you deselect this option, the other options are disallowed.

Key 1
  Click on the up or down arrow to set the first key.

Key 2
  Click on the up or down arrow to set the second key.

  Choices for the hot key combination are:

   o Left Alt Key
   o Left Control Key
   o Left Shift Key
   o Right Shift Key
   o Caps Lock Key
   o Num Lock Key
   o Scroll Lock Key
   o System Request Key
   o Right Alt Key
   o Right Control Key

Milliseconds Pressed Time
  The minimum time that the two keys must be pressed before they are recognized
  as the hot key combination.

  The default time is 250 milliseconds.

  Click on the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the number.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to leave the Hot Key Information window without
validating your entries.

Use the File Information window to specify the filename for the Message Log
File.

Message Log File
  Tracks messages for the DOS target workstation.

  It will be installed where DCAF is installed.

  It can be 1-8 characters long with a 3-character extension.

  For character guidelines, follow DOS file naming conventions.

  Otherwise, use the default option.

  Note:   Do not use BAT, CMD, COM, DAT, DIR, DLL, EXE, or REC as the filename
  extension.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Help for Screen Buffer Size ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Use the Screen Buffer Size window to set the size of the target workstation
screen that will be displayed on the controller screen.  Choose the maximum
size (in bytes) of the screen that you think you will need.  The window will
automatically display the maximum number of rows for a screen of 40 columns and
for a screen of 80 columns.  The minimum number of bytes for a screen of 80
columns is 4000 (the default value).  So, if you choose a lower value, the line
for 80 columns will disappear.

Your choice of bytes for Screen Buffer Size will affect the way applications
work.  First, if you choose a lower value, you will limit the size of the
screen that will be seen on the controller during a DCAF session.  Second, if
you choose the maximum value of 8000 bytes for a screen size of 80 columns by
50 rows, the screen will use twice as much memory as the default value. This
will reduce memory capabilities for other applications and limit or even keep
some of the applications from running on your machine.

Screen Buffer Size
  Click on the up or down arrow to set.

  The default is 4000.

  The values are 2000, 3440, 4000, 6880, and 8000.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Use the Status Indicator Attributes window to set the position and the color of
the DCAF status indicator. The status indicator is 18 columns wide and 1 row
high.  It displays a message indicating the current state of operation.

Row Number
  It is recommended that you choose a value of 1 for applications that scroll.
  If you choose a value of 0, no status indicator is displayed.

  The default is 1.

  Click on the up or down arrow to change the row number.

  The range is 0 - 50.

Column Number
  Click on the up or down arrow to change the column number.

  The default is 63.

  The range is 1 - 63.

Text and Background Color
  Assigns the colors of the foreground and background of the status indicator
  and your pop-up window.

  The default is white on cyan blue.

  Select the colors from the following:

   o White on Cyan
   o Cyan on White
   o Black on White
   o White on Black

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to leave the Status Indicator Attributes window
without validating your entries.

Use the Keyboard Processing Information window to choose how keyboard input
will be processed on your workstation.

Does your personal computer have the 8042 keyboard chip?
  The way your workstation processes keyboard input depends on whether you have
  an 8042 keyboard chip on your workstation.

  Select the appropriate choice:

I don't know
  Select this option if you do not know whether your workstation is equipped
  with an 8042 keyboard chip. The DCAF program will automatically test whether
  your workstation uses it.  This is the default.

Yes
  Choose this option if you know that your workstation uses an 8042 keyboard
  chip.

No
  Use this option if you know that your workstation does not have an 8042
  keyboard chip.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to leave the Keyboard Processing Information window
without validating your entries.

Use the Target for OS/2 Personalization window to customize the setup options
of the OS/2 target workstation.

Select the appropriate choices.

Allow the target to terminate a session
  Enables the target workstation to end a session with a controller.

  Select to enable this option (i.e., to enable the target workstation to end a
  session with the controller).

  Otherwise, deselect to make this option unavailable.

  Note:   If you do not select Enable Hot Key, this field is unavailable.

Allow the target to be a secure target
  Designates the target workstation as a secure target with secure session
  communication.

  If this option is selected, Access Levels personalization will be
  unavailable.

  The default is that this option is unavailable.

  Note:   This option is set at installation only.  It can be changed only if
  you deinstall the target and then reinstall it.

  Select to use this option (i.e., to designate the target workstation as a
  secure target workstation).

  Otherwise, deselect to make this option unavailable.

Start DCAF sessions in Active Mode
  Makes DCAF sessions start up in Active state.

  Select to use this option (i.e., to start up in Active mode).

  Otherwise, deselect to start up in Monitoring mode.

Refresh rate (msecs)
  The interval between updates of your screen that are sent to the controller
  display. If the connection with the controller is slow or has heavy traffic
  increase the value. The higher the value you enter, the less frequently your
  screen updates are sent to the controller display.

  The default is 100 milliseconds.

  The range, in multiples of one hundred, is from 100 to 4000.

Use the DCAF ACDI Parameters window to customize the setup options for the
asynchronous communication protocol.

Communication Port Number
  The number of the asynchronous serial port to which the modem can be
  attached.

   o Click on the up or down arrow to increase or decrease the number. The
     default value is 1.

   o The range is 1-3.

Baud Rate
  The modem transmission rate in bits per second.  The default value is 9600
  bps.

   o Click on the up or down arrow to increase or decrease the value.

   o The values are 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 48000, 56000, 57800,
     or 64000.

Connection Type
  The type of data connection.

  Click on the up or down arrow to set the number for the connection type.  The
  default value is 3.

  The values are 1, 3.

   o Type 1 responds to a manual connection from the controller to the target.

   o Type 3 responds with automatic data answering.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to leave the DCAF ACDI Parameters window without

Use the DCAF LAN Parameters window to customize the setup options for the DCAF
gateway when it uses the NETBIOS communications protocol.

Define the following parameters:

Adapter Number
  The LAN adapter number (part of the LAN profile configuration on your
  workstation).

  Select the adapter number.

  The values are 0, 1.

  The default is 0.

DCAF LAN Directory Name
  The DCAF LAN directory maintains a list of the LAN target workstation names.
  Each target workstation on a LAN must be registered with one LAN directory if
  it will be accessed via a DCAF gateway.  If you want to have more than one
  LAN directory name on one logical LAN, then each directory must have a unique
  name.

  The default is DCAFLAN.

  Character guidelines:

   o It must be 1 to 12 characters.
   o All characters except a single asterisk or all blanks are allowed.
   o It is case sensitive.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to leave the DCAF LAN Parameters window without
validating your entries.


ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. Help for Full Screen Status Indicator Attributes ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

Use the Full Screen Status Indicator Attributes window to change the position
and the color of the DCAF status indicator. The status indicator displays the
current state of operation (e.g., Active or Monitoring).

You change the position of the DCAF status indicator by setting the row and
column number.

Row Number
  Click on the up or down arrow to change the row number. The row number ranges
  from 0 - 60, and its default is 1. It is recommended that you choose row
  number 1 for applications that scroll. If you have a non-scrolling
  application you can choose a different row number.  If you choose a value of
  0, no status indicator is displayed.

Column Number
  Click on the up or down arrow to change the column number. The column number
  ranges from 1 - 116, and its default is 62.

  Note:   The maximum row and column number values listed above are supported
  by the OS/2 mode command. Your actual maximums may differ depending on the
  display type and the display driver used at the target workstation.

Color Attribute
  Assigns the colors of the foreground and background of the status indicator.

  The default is white on blue cyan.

  Select the colors from the following:

   o White on Cyan
   o Cyan on White
   o Black on White
   o White on Black

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to leave the Full Screen Indicator Attributes window
without validating your entries.

Use the Access Levels Table window to customize a basic DCAF session.

There are seven privileges or types of control allowed over target workstations
during a secure DCAF session.  Each row in the table represents a privilege.

The default is that all the privileges are selected.

Select the desired options:

Controller monitors target
  The controller can monitor or watch any target workstation assigned in this
  access table. The target workstation keyboard remains unlocked.

Controller controls target
  The controller can control any target workstation in an active DCAF session.
  The target workstation keyboard is locked.

Target user switches to active session
  The target workstation user can switch the DCAF session to active mode.

  You must select Controller monitors target or Controller user controls target
  along with this privilege.

Controller sends files
  The controller can send files to the target workstation.  File transfers are
  always initiated by the controller.

  You must select Controller monitors target or Controller user controls target
  along with this privilege.

Controller receives files
  The controller can receive files from the target workstation.

  You must select Controller monitors target or Controller user controls target
  along with this privilege.

Controller starts full screen
  The controller initiates an OS/2 full screen session on the target
  workstation.

  You must select Controller controls target along with this privilege.

Controller reboots target
  The controller can restart the target workstation.

  You must select Controller controls target along with this privilege.

Use the DCAF LAN Directory NetBIOS Parameters window to customize the setup
options for sessions between the LAN directory and the controller (or gateway
for secure sessions) using the NetBIOS communications protocol.

Define the following parameters:

Adapter Number
  The LAN adapter number for the workstation (part of the workstation LAN
  profile configuration).

   o The default is 0.

   o The range is from 0 to 3.

   o Place the cursor in the box and click on the up or down arrow to increase
     or decrease the number.

Nickname List File Name
  The DCAF LAN directory maintains a list of the LAN targets. Each target on a
  LAN registers with a LAN directory to be accessed directly by a controller or
  through a DCAF gateway for secure sessions.

  Provide the name of the file that defines, by adapter address and nickname,
  targets registered with this LAN directory. The nickname list file is
  installed where DCAF is installed.

  It can be 1-8 characters long with a 3 character extension.

  For character guidelines follow OS/2 filename conventions.

  Otherwise, use the default option.

DCAF LAN Directory Name
  A name that identifies the LAN directory on a LAN. If there is more than one
  LAN directory on the same logical LAN, give each directory a unique name.

  The default is DCAFLAN.

  It must be 1 to 12 characters.

  All characters except a single '*' or all blanks are allowed.

Maximum accessible sessions
  The maximum number of LAN directory sessions that can occur simultaneously
  between the LAN directory and the controller (or gateway).

   o The default is 4.

   o The range is 1-254.

   o Place the cursor in the box and then click on the up or down arrow to
     increase or decrease the number.

Autostart communication
  Select the checkbox to start NetBIOS automatically when you start the LAN
  directory.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Use the DCAF LAN Directory TCP/IP Parameters window to customize the setup
options for sessions between the LAN directory and the controller (or gateway
for secure sessions) using the TCP/IP communications protocol.

Define the following parameters:

Port number
  The port number of this LAN directory. Assign a number that identifies this
  workstation, for DCAF use only, to other TCP/IP applications. Use it to
  identify the LAN directory to its list of targets.

   o The default is 2500.

   o The range is 1024-65534.

Nickname List File Name
  The DCAF LAN directory maintains a list of the LAN targets. Each target
  workstation on a LAN must be registered with a LAN directory to be accessed
  directly by a controller or through a DCAF gateway for secure sessions.

  Provide the name of the file that defines, by IP address and nickname,
  targets registered with this LAN directory. The nickname list file is
  installed where DCAF is installed.

  It can be 1-8 characters long with a 3 character extension.

  For character guidelines follow OS/2 filename conventions.

  Otherwise, use the default option.

Autostart communication
  Select the checkbox to start TCP/IP automatically when you start the LAN
  directory.

for secure sessions) using the IPX/SPX communications protocol.

Define the following parameters:

Nickname List File Name
  The DCAF LAN directory maintains a list of the LAN targets. Each target
  workstation on a LAN must be registered with a LAN directory to be accessed
  directly by a controller or through a DCAF gateway for secure sessions.

  Provide the name of the file that defines, by Internet address (the network
  address plus the node address), targets registered with this LAN directory.
  It is installed where DCAF is installed.

  It can be 1-8 characters long with a 3 character extension.

  For character guidelines follow OS/2 filename conventions.

  Otherwise, use the default option.

Autostart communication
  Select the checkbox to start IPX/SPX automatically when you start the LAN
  directory.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

for sessions between the target and the controller using the NetBIOS
communications protocol.

Define the following parameters:

Adapter Number
  The LAN adapter number for the workstation (it is part of the workstation LAN
  profile configuration).

   o The default is 0.

   o The values are 0 - 3.

   o Place the cursor in the box and then click on the up or down arrow to
     increase or decrease the number.

DCAF LAN Directory Name

Use the DCAF Target TCP/IP Parameters window to customize the setup options for
sessions between the target and controller using the TCP/IP communications
protocol.

Define the following parameters:

DCAF LAN Directory IP address
  The address assigned to the LAN Directory with which this target registers.

   o It is a string made up of four substrings of numbers, divided by a period:
     nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn.

     The range for each substring is 0-255.

DCAF LAN Directory port number
  The port number of the LAN directory that connects this target to a
  controller for a session. Use the same port number as the one assigned to the
  LAN directory of this target at installation.

   o The default is 2500.

   o The range is 1024-65534.

Local port number
  The port number of this target. Assign a number that identifies this
  workstation, for DCAF use only, to other TCP/IP applications.

   o The default is 2501.

   o The range is 1024-65534.

Autostart communication
  Select the checkbox to start TCP/IP automatically when you start the LAN
  directory.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Use the DCAF Target IPX/SPX Parameters window to customize the setup options
for sessions between the target and the controller (or gateway for secure
sessions) using the IPX/SPX communications protocol.

Define the following parameters:

DCAF LAN Directory Network Address
  The network address of the LAN directory that connects this target to the
  controller. It identifies the network where the LAN directory resides.

  Character guidelines for hexadecimal format:

   o It is exactly 8 characters.

   o Upper or lowercase letters (A-F).

   o Digits (0-9).

   o The maximum value is FFFFFFFE.

DCAF LAN Directory Node Address
  Identifies the LAN directory in the network where it resides. It should match
  the LAN directory adapter address, but it must be unique in the network.

  Character guidelines for hexadecimal format:

   o It is exactly 12 characters.

   o Upper or lowercase letters (A-F).

   o Digits (0-9).

Autostart communication
  Select the checkbox to start IPX/SPX automatically when you start the LAN
  directory.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return to the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to close the DCAF Target IPX/SPX Parameters window
without validating your entries.

Use the DCAF Gateway Personalization window to provide your own options
regarding DCAF gateway workstation parameters.

Fill in the appropriate fields.

Log File Name
  The name of the log file that tracks the password initialization for basic
  DCAF sessions and the error messages and audit trail for all sessions.

  It can be 1-8 characters long with a 3-character extension.

  For character guidelines, follow OS/2 conventions for the filename. The log
  file will be installed in the same drive and path as DCAF.

  Note:   Do not use BAT, CMD, COM, DAT, DIR, DLL, EXE, or REC as the file
  extension.

Allow the gateway to be secure
  Indicates the type of sessions (secure or basic DCAF) to be held between the
  specified DCAF gateway and the controllers.

  If you check this option, the Authenticator Name entry field will be made
  available.

   o Select this box to make these sessions secure.
   o Otherwise, deselect for basic DCAF sessions.

Authenticator Name
  The unique name by which the authenticator associated with the gateway is
  recognized by the DCAF security system.

  If you do not select Allow the gateway to be secure, this field is
  unavailable.

  It must be 1-12 characters.

  Character guidelines:

   o All characters except a single '*' or all blanks.
   o It is case-sensitive.

Number of Sessions
  The maximum amount of sessions between the DCAF gateway and controllers that
  can occur simultaneously at a particular gateway.  This information
  designates the number of NETBIOS resources that are to be reserved for such
  sessions.

  The default is 16.

   o Set the Number of sessions by clicking on the arrows to increase or
     decrease (1 to 254).

  Note:   If NETBIOS resources are insufficient, you must increase them through
  the OS/2 Communications Manager.

Change Communications Information...
  Information associated with the DCAF LAN parameters (e.g., adapter number,
  adapter address, or directory name).

  Select Change Communications Information... to change these parameters.

  Otherwise, deselect to use the default options.

Select OK to make your entries valid.

Select Reset to return the previous entries and then OK to make them valid.

Otherwise, select Cancel to leave the DCAF Gateway Personalization window
without validating your entries.
