  4. The DCAF - LAN Target Directory window shows a list of target names for DCAF 
  5. target workstations running on a selected LAN and their status.

  7. From the menu bar of the DCAF - LAN Target Directory window, you can select 
  8. from the choices listed below:

  12. o Help

  14. Select a listed choice to view a description of each.

  16. Below is a definition of the icons (symbolic pictures) used in the DCAF - LAN

  28. The DCAF - LAN Target Directory window displays the list of LAN target names 
  29. and their activity.

  31. The Status listing indicates the availability of the LAN target workstation to 
  32. open a session. 
  33.  
  34. Available 
  35.   The target workstation is eligible for a connection. 
  36.  
  37. Active 
  38.   The target workstation is already engaged in a connection with a controller. 
  39.  
  40. Disabled 
  41.   Either the power for the target workstation has been turned off or the 
  42.   Distributed Console Access Facility has been stopped.

  47. The Target Names listing displays the list of LAN target names as they appear 
  48. on the LAN.  The target can be listed by nickname (if it exists in the nickname 
  49. file) or by LAN adapter address.

  140. Select LAN Target Fast Path to start a session with a LAN target directly 
  141. without searching through the LAN target directory.

  145.  1. Type the LAN target workstation name.

  147.     It must be 1-60 characters long.

  149.     It cannot be a substring. 
  150.  
  151.     It is case sensitive.

  155.    o Upper or lowercase letters (A-Z, a-z)

  168. Use the Modify LAN Target Name window to change the name of a LAN target 
  169. workstation.

  174.  1. Type the new name for the LAN target workstation over the current name that 
  175.     appears in the Target Name field.

  202. Use the DCAF Target NETBIOS Names window to display a double-columned list of 
  203. all the NETBIOS names assigned to a specified remote LAN target workstation. 
  204. You will see the adapter address of the target workstation. 
  205.  
  206. This window allows you to obtain information about the software that is running 
  207. on the target workstation.  Each application must declare itself to the NETBIOS 
  208. communications subsystem if it wants to use NETBIOS services. 
  209.  
  210. Scroll through the list to distinguish between NETBIOS applications running on 
  211. a target workstation. 
  212.  
  213. Select Cancel to return to the DCAF - LAN Target Directory window.

  218. Use the DCAF - LAN Target Password window to enter the password of the LAN 
  219. target workstation.

  221. You will be prompted for a password if you selected a nonsecure target.

  223. For the Target password entry field:

  227.     Character guidelines:

  229.    o It must be 4-8 characters long. 
  230.    o All characters including imbedded blanks are valid.

  235. validating your password.

  237. Note:   If the target was not installed with a password, you can start a

  251.                       available, and how to access them.
