ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. DUCPM - Help for Application ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This file contains help information for the application DUCPM.
DUCPM is a dynamic update client designed to work with the dynamic IP site
NO-IP.COM.
You need to register at the site WWW.NO-IP.COM first to get a password. After
login with this password you have to select a hostname and a domain.
The GUI of DUCPM is organized in a notebook form. It is collected in three
notebook pages:
User Info containing all data entered at WWW.NO-IP.COM
Host Info containing all local data
Status Info displaying the status information
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.1. User Info ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This page collects all data arranged with NO-IP on the web site. This is in
detail:
This is the email address that you used when registering with NO-IP. You also
use this address as userid when logging into NO-IP for changes to your
settings.
Password
This is the password that you received after registering with NO-IP. You also
use this password when logging into NO-IP for changes to your settings.
Host
This is the standard way to have a single DYNDS entry maintained. Please select
the Host: selection and enter the hostname you reserved at NO-IP here.
Domain
This entry field holds the domain name that you selected for the hostname
above. The domain field can only be set, when Host: is selected. Your fully
qualified hostname will be of the form <Host>.<Domain>. This result is visible
on the Status Info page.
Group
If you want to maintain more than one DYDNS hostname for your computer, it's
more efficient to collect these entries on the NO-IP site in a group. If you
prefer to work like this, select Group: and enter the name of the group you
created at NO-IP here.
If all settings here are accomplished, proceed to the Host Info page by
clicking the Next button or its notebook tab.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.2. Host Info ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This page collects all local data to control the communication with NO-IP. This
is in detail:
My IP-Address
This field allows only to select one of the sources for your local IP-Address.
It is up to your ingenuity and perhaps some "try and error", what entry to use.
The default setting Proxy is the best try for a first setting, but it may fail
if a (personal) firewall bans outbound internet access on port 8245. In most
cases multiple entries show the same address. This is a good signal to use one
of them.
Proxy
The entry field shows your visible IP address at NO-IP, when all HTTP-Proxies
are bypassed by using port 8245 instead of the standard HTTP port 80. The data
displayed in the entry field is inserted automatically and could not be
changed. If this field contains three dashes "---" instead of an IP address,
your host can't communicate with NO-IP (at least not on this port).
NAT
The entry field shows your visible IP address at NO-IP, when using the standard
HTTP port 80. The data displayed in the entry field is inserted automatically
and could not be changed. If this field contains three dashes "---" instead of
an IP address, your host can't communicate with NO-IP (at least not on this
port).
Local
The entry field shows your IP address on the interface local to your computer.
You can select the respective interface from the available interfaces in the
drop-down list just behind this selection. If this field contains three dashes
"---" instead of an IP address, this interface is not available (at least at
this moment).
The drop-down list allows you to select an interface from all local ones. Be
sure not to select Local, when the address shown is in the range reserved for
use by "private internets":
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
Note:TCP/IP timeout takes 75 seconds in OS/2. If the dashes still stay after
approx. 3 minutes, you can assume a communication problem.
Background
This dynamic update client can run in the background checking your IP-Address
from time to time. This is especially helpful if your internet connection is
disconnected sometimes by your ISP. As the following reconnect will most likely
supply you with a different IP address, your NO-IP account will then
automatically be updated by DUCPM. This update will continue as long as your
update requests are successful. If the contained Checkbox is checked, the
update period could be selected. Under normal conditions the default value of
30 minutes should be the best compromise between acceptable load for NO-IP.COM
and quick updates.
If all settings here are accomplished, proceed to the Status Info page by
clicking the Next button or its notebook tab.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.3. Status Info ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This page assembles all relevant data entered in the previous pages combined
with the current status. This is in detail:
Host
This shows the concatenated full hostname <Hostname>.<Domain> to be used in the
update with NO-IP. This information is only shown, when Host has been selected
on the User Info page.
Group
This shows the group name to be used in the update with NO-IP. This information
is only shown, when Group has been selected on the User Info page.
at Address
This shows the address to be used in the update with NO-IP. This information is
copied from the selected address entry on the Host Info page.
has State
This shows the state of the current registration update on NO-IP. It can be
either "Active", indicating, that the last update was successful, "Wait",
indicating that no information is available at the moment and "Not Set",
indicating, that the last update failed. In the last case, more information is
available in the first line of the Logbook field.
Logbook
the logbook shows all activites of the past in reverse order, this means, the
latest event is on the first line. In case of failed updates, these messages
contain in most cases helpful hints for troubleshooting.
If all Status fields contain sensible information, you may press the Update
button to update your entry at NO-IP.
Warning:Please do not repeat pressing Update when you get the "<Host> was
already set to <IP-Address>". NO-IP's DOS (Denial of Service) probe might take
this for an attack and block your account.
