The binary file included in the TXLFRM11.ZIP is for the Texel DM-XX24 series
CD-ROM drive. Individual who desire to 'burn their own' should understand that
we at Texel do not endorse performing this procedure. So if you blotch it you
fix it!!!
The following files should be included:
5024.txt Instructions for firmware replacement for DM-5024
3024.txt Instructions for firmware replacement for DM-3024
firm.txt Firmware revision table
firm11.bin 1.1 Firmware code
The firmware has been downloaded as a binary file. The revision for this firmware
is 1.1 and incorporates many improvements pertaining to proper SCSI control.
However, the firmware has one minor problem. During system boot up, the
drive my fail to initialize. This is circumvented by insuring that no
media is inserted into the drive prior to boot-up.
To burn your own EPROM please read the bullets below:
Hint: It is best to perform this procedure when not under the influence
of drugs, alcohol or children!
- For disassembly and reassembly of the DM-5024 or DM-3024, refer to the
applicable instructions files found with this ZIP package (5024.txt, 3024.txt)
- For firmware revision notes refer to FIRM.txt found in this ZIP package.
- Use only 27512 EPROM rated at 150 nanoseconds or faster.
- The firmware code was downloaded from a EPROM Blaster as a binary file. Keep
it that way when uploading to the target device.
- After the Target ROM has been blasted, insure that the checksum is as follows:
*CHECKSUM = 008A03EB
If the result does not equal the checksum above, do not use the EPROM,
It's blotched !!!!!
* The Checksum is checked on the blasted EPROM only, not from the system
memory.
