  4. "DBar is a double-byte character inputing application for OS/2 PM applications."

  10. "It means that this version is not a serious version. It has many limitations and bugs.
  11. Moreover, it doesn't work as smooth as other double-byte add-on like
  12. unionway, richwin, etc."

  15. "It is tested on a pc with warp 4 installed. You should also need to
  16. 1.    have emxrt installed (available in hobbes)
  17. 2.    install the unicode support provided by Java 1.1x for Warp
  18. 3.    apply the latest fixpack
  19. 4.    for traditional Chinese (Big5), change the following 2 statements in CONFIG.SYS as
  20.       COUNTRY=088,F:\OS2\SYSTEM\COUNTRY.SYS
  21.       CODEPAGE=950,850

  23.     for simplified Chinese (GB),
  24.       COUNTRY=086,F:\OS2\SYSTEM\COUNTRY.SYS
  25.       CODEPAGE=1381,850
  26.  
  27.     for other languages, refer to COUNTRY in 'OS/2 Warp Command Reference'.
  28. if your warp is not a us-english verion, you should use another codepage value instead 
  29. of 850. Refer to the original value in the statements or COUNTRY in 'OS/2 Warp Command

  34. "So do I! If you are not a frequent DB user, try, say for traditional Chinese,
  35.       CODEPAGE=850,950
  36. Whenever you want to use Chinese, use the commands
  37.       CHCP 950
  38. to switch the code page first. Say, if you want to use DBar for traditional chinese, 
  39. the commands should be
  40.       CHCP 950
  41.       dbar.exe
  42.       CHCP 850   <-- switch back to US english, after finished
  43. For convenience, 2 command files called db950.cmd & db1381.cmd are provided for both
  44. Big5 & GB users."

  47. "Just make a directory and copy all the files to it."

  50. "I tested it with E, EPM & STERM. StarWrite hung over there!"

  53. "Backup dbar.ini, phase.ini & punct.ini first. Rename dbar.gb, phase.gb & punct.gb
  54. to dbar.ini, phase.ini & punct.ini respectively."

  57. "Since I know Chinese (BIG5 & GB) only. There is no preparation for other coding.

  61. It contains the initial settings for DBar. 
  62. 1.    under [im], delete all the statements. 
  63. 2.    LEAVE LINE [options] & THE FOLLOWING LINES THERE
  64. You can install your favoriate inputing method by running DBar afterword.

  67. It contains the words displayed in DBar.
  68. 1.    Delete all the monster codes on the right sides of '=' signs.
  69. 2.    Enter the double code words in your language and coding. 
  70.           (How? Well, mmmm. You may need to do it on 'another' platform.)
  71.     a) full means full shape
  72.     b) half means half shape
  73.     c) ic means internal code
  74.     d) eng means english & numeric
  75.     e) punc means punctation
  76.     f) op means options
  77.     g) space means insert a space after every db character
  78.     h) installed means (input methods) installed
  79.     i) available means (input methods) available to be installed
  80.     j) ok means OK (why did you ask?)
  81.     k) install means (to) install (a inputing method)
  82.     l) remove means (to) remove (a inputing method)
  83.     m) im means inputing method

  86. It contains the punctations available in the punctation panel.
  87. There 16 spaces available. Choose the ones you want and put on the
  88. right sides of the '=' signs."

  91. "A number of input methods are provided for Big5 and GB codes. Refer to
  92. http://members.xoom.com/castlemaster .  DBar and Chinese Editor share the
  93. same input method files. Others? Sorry. I have no sources. But you can make

  98. 1.    It switchs to and fro between DBar and the target application.
  99. 2.    Response slowly, characters may be skipped if you type too fast.
  100. 3.    Dosen't work for child dialog boxes and maybe even child windows.
  101. 4.    All the editing keys should be input to the PM application directly, 
  102.            say BACKSPACE, DELETE.
  103. 5.    to be discovered...."

  118. possible. So save your money for other important things."
