  42.    One of the above operating systems with TCP/IP LAN services up 
  43.    and running. If the version of TCP/IP is 3.1, the fix for 
  44.    Portmapper should be applied.

  47.   1. OS/2 TCP/IP services and LAN services should be running both on 
  48.      the Client and Host machines.

  50.   2. If the TCP/IP version is 3.1 , the fix for Portmapper should be

  68.  
  69.   This Softpaq creates diskettes for Compaq Remote ROM Flash for 
  70.   OS/2 servers. 
  71.  
  72.   The Compaq Remote ROM Flash Utility for OS/2 servers is divided 
  73.   into two components
  74.   1) Host Component
  75.   2) Client Component
  76.  
  77. Host Component: 
  78.      This is usually installed in the adminstrator 
  79.      console. This component consists of six floppies. To install 
  80.      the host component
  81.  
  82.      1) Insert the first floppy.
  83.      2) Type A: at the command prompt and press enter
  84.      3) Type INSTALL and follow instructions.
  85.  
  86.      Upon installation a folder named "RSRUOS2" will be created on 
  87.      the desktop which intern consists a folder named "RSRUHLP". 
  88.      Invoke RSRUHLP to see the user documentation of this utility.
  89.  
  90. Client Component: 
  91.     This is installed on the computer where ROM flash has to occur. 
  92.     To install the client component
  93.  
  94.     1) Insert the  seventh floppy.
  95.     2) Type A: at the command prompt and press enter
  96.     3) Type INSTALL and follow instructions.
  97.  
  98. Note: 
  99.    For local ROM Flash both host and client components must be 
  100.    installed on the same computer. 
  101.

  103. Important Usage Notes:
  104. *************************
  105.  
  106. The servers listed above have been tested and are fully supported 
  107. by the Compaq Remote ROM Flash Utility.  Attempts to use the tool 
  108. to update Smart and Smart2 Array controllers installed in unsupported 
  109. servers should succeed by design, but this has not been verified for 
  110. this release. 
  111.  
  112. The ROM family name of a system (i.e., E40 or P40) can be identified 
  113. by looking on the Integrated Management Display (IMD), if present. 
  114. If the server does not possess an IMD option, ROM name information 
  115. can be obtained using the System Configuration utility or by watching 
  116. the console during system boot.
  117.  
  118. There are two technical obstacles that limit the supported 
  119. servers list at this time.
  120.  
  121.  1> The current release utilizes the System ID to correlate a ROM 
  122.     image with a server.  Compaq ships several servers that possess 
  123.     like System IDs, but require different ROM images. This release 
  124.     of the utilty does not support such systems. The systems that 
  125.     belong in this category are the following:
  126.  
  127.     Compaq ProLiant 1200 (E35 ROM)
  128.     Compaq ProLiant 1600 (E34 ROM)
  129.     Compaq ProLiant 2500 (E24 ROM)
  130.     Compaq ProLiant 2500 (E50 ROM)
  131.  
  132.  
  133.  2> Servers that utilize Compaq's Advanced Server Management Chipset 
  134.     (ASM) will not perform a deep power reboot when the flash process 
  135.     is initiated, and thus will not successfully flash system ROM's. 
  136.     An issue that causes this behavior has been isolated in the ROM 
  137.     BIOS and will be fixed in the maintenance release of the ROM's 
  138.     dated 12\30\98.  
  139.  
  140.     Systems that have an earlier ROM date can use a modified flash 
  141.     procedure to perform system ROM flash. These systems can use the 
  142.     utility to setup the system partition for flash, but will need 
  143.     to be physically powered off and powered back on to initiate a 
  144.     successful flash process. The systems that belong in this 
  145.     category are as following:
  146.  
  147.     Compaq ProLiant 1600  (P08 ROM)
  148.     Compaq ProLiant 1850R (P07 ROM)
  149.     Compaq ProLiant 3000  (P09 ROM)
  150.     Compaq ProLiant 6000  (P40 ROM)
  151.     Compaq ProLiant 6500  (P11 ROM)
  152.     Compaq ProLiant 5500  (P12 ROM)
  153.     Compaq ProLiant 7000  (P43 ROM)
  154.     Compaq ProLiant 800   (P18 ROM)
  155.        
  156.     To flash the above list of servers the following steps may be 
  157.     used. 
  158.  
  159.     1) Run the romflash.exe utility to set up the flash 
  160.        process.
  161.     2) For systems with ROM's dated before 12\30\98, they must be 
  162.        shutdown followed by a manual power off and power on.
  163.     3) The system will boot to the system partition and perform the 
  164.        specified flash.
  165.     4) After the flash completes the system will shutdown and boot 
  166.        up into OS/2.

  169. HOW TO USE:
  170.  
  171. 1. Download the Softpaq to an empty directory on your
  172.    hard drive and change to that directory. The file that
  173.    is downloaded is SP6183.EXE.
  174.  
  175. 2. From that drive and directory, execute the Softpaq
  176.    file:
  177.       SP6183 [ENTER]
  178.  
  179.    The following files should be created:

  181.    1. QRST5.EXE
  182.    2. 128601._01
  183.    3. 128601._02
  184.    4. 128601._03
  185.    5. 128601._04
  186.    6. 128601._05
  187.    7. 128601._06
  188.    8. 128601._07
  189.    9. SP6183.TXT

  191. 3. Obtain 7 formatted 1.44-MB diskettes.
  192.  
  193. 4. To create the diskettes, run QRST5 and follow the
  194.    on-screen instructions.

  196. 5. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the
  197.    downloaded file SP61834.EXE and the other files created
  198.    on your hard drive if you wish.
