Readme for Frobozz Chat
About
Frobozz Chat is a simple chatting tool for IPX based networks.
It is a Presentation Manager application that allows users to
send each other single line messages over the network. The
shareware version is restricted to one single physical network
cable. The full version also work across routers.
Installation
Unzip the chat.zip file to a working directory, say C:\APPS\CHAT.
Next create a program object for the application with Path and
file name: C:\APPS\CHAT\CHAT.EXE and Working directory C:\APPS\CHAT.
First time use
After starting the application for the first time, select the
File...Options item from the menu bar. Enter your network name
(maximum 47 letters, spaces are allowed) and close the dialog.
Chatting
Frobozz Chat does not require you to be logged in to a file
server. In fact it does not require a file server to be present
in the network at all. Only IPX needs to be present and loaded
on the workstation.
To send a message to another user select the File..Send menu
item to pop up a send dialog. Alternatively, you can double
click (or press enter) on an item in the main window listbox
if you want to reply to message. After completing the dialog,
press Send to send the message.
Selecting Everyone will broadcast the given message to all
users logged in.
