  1. Readme for Frobozz Chat

  3. About

  5.     Frobozz Chat is a simple chatting tool for IPX based networks. 
  6.     It is a Presentation Manager application that allows users to 
  7.     send each other single line messages over the network. The 
  8.     shareware version is restricted to one single physical network 
  9.     cable. The full version also work across routers.

  11. Installation
  12.  
  13.     Unzip the chat.zip file to a working directory, say C:\APPS\CHAT.
  14.     Next create a program object for the application with Path and 
  15.     file name: C:\APPS\CHAT\CHAT.EXE and Working directory C:\APPS\CHAT.

  17. First time use
  18.  
  19.     After starting the application for the first time, select the 
  20.     File...Options item from the menu bar. Enter your network name 
  21.     (maximum 47 letters, spaces are allowed) and close the dialog.

  23. Chatting
  24.  
  25.     Frobozz Chat does not require you to be logged in to a file 
  26.     server. In fact it does not require a file server to be present 
  27.     in the network at all. Only IPX needs to be present and loaded 
  28.     on the workstation. 
  29.     To send a message to another user select the File..Send menu 
  30.     item to pop up a send dialog. Alternatively, you can double 
  31.     click (or press enter) on an item in the main window listbox 
  32.     if you want to reply to message. After completing the dialog, 
  33.     press Send to send the message.
  34.     Selecting Everyone will broadcast the given message to all 
  35.     users logged in.

  40.     Company. All rights reserved. You can distribute this file freely, 
  41.     provided you don't charge for it beyond of the costs of distribution.

  45.     Frobozz Chat is shareware. You are granted a limited 30 day trial 
  46.     period to see if you like the program. If, after this trial 
  47.     period, you wish to continue using the application, please 
  48.     register it. 
  49.     Support the shareware concept.

  51.     The trial version of this program is limited to messages on a single 
  52.     (physical cable) network. Registration will enable you to chat across 
  53.     multiple networks.

  57.     The no-nonsense, full network, registration fee for Frobozz Chat is
  58.      $25 (plus 17.5% VAT for EEC users). (Note: the actual sum may vary 
  59.     due to fluctuation in international currency exchange rates; payment
  60.     will be done in Dutch Guilders). You can pay by Eurocard, MasterCard 
  61.     or Visa.

  91. Thirty day limit

  93.     There is no mechanism to force you to register. The 30 day 
  94.     limit is voluntary and in no way imposed by the application. Only 
  95.     your conscience can enforce it.
