ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. CD-ROM Manager/2 ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
CD-ROM Manager/2 is a program that allows you to adjust certain operating
parameters of Plextor (R) CD-ROM drives.
Please read this!
Dialog page Purpose
Drive General operating parameters (speed, spin down, etc.)
Media Table of contents of the inserted CD, audio play back and dump
Audio Parameters for the analog audio output
About Version and copyright information.
CD-ROM Manager/2 also supports several command line flags to enable automated
CD-ROM parameter settings.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Command line flags ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
CD-ROM Manager/2 supports several command line parameters so you can restore
settings automatically. For example, you could include a call to яcdmgr.exeя in
your STARTUP.CMD file with the desired command line parameters to restore
settings of your choice.
The following parameters are supported:
Flag Purpose
-q quiet mode - do not display any error messages
-c continue after executing command line arguments (show PM window)
-d 1 based CD-ROM drive index (as displayed in the drive list box in
CD-ROM Manager/2); arguments following a -d switch are used for the
drive specified.
-s set speed in multiples of 150k/sec; requires desired speed factor as
second parameter (i.e. '8' for 8x speed)
-t set spindown time out; requires desired time out value as second
parameter. Possible values are:
125 125 ms
250 250ms
500 500ms
1s 1 sec
2s 2 sec
4s 4 sec
8s 8 sec
16s 16 sec
32s 32 sec
1m 1 min
2m 2 min (default value)
4m 4 min
8m 8 min
16m 16 min
32m 32 min
0 infinite
-v set audio volume in per cent (second parameter)
-n set "no auto slow down" flag
requires on (0) / off (1) flag as second parameter
Example:
cdmgr.exe -q -s 8 -t 8m -v 90 -n 1 -d 2 -s 4
This example does not display eventual errors (-q), sets a speed value of 8x
(-s 8), a time out value of 8 minutes (-t 8m), an audio volume of 90 per cent
(-v 90) and sets the no auto speed down flag to true. The second CDROM drive
is set to a reading speed of 4x.
If you start CD-ROM Manager/2 with any of these command line parameters, no
window will be displayed and the program will exit after adjusting the values
specified (except if you specifed the -c (continue) flag).

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. "Drive selection" dialog ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialog allows you to select a CDROM drive for further operations with
CD-ROM Manager/2. The drives are displayed with their SCSI ID string, host
adapter index number (0 based) and SCSI ID.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. "Drive" dialog page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Drive Speed
Sets the drive's reading speed in multiples of 150k/sec.
Spindown Timeout
Adjusts the time that passes until the drive stops the spindle motor after the
last access.
No auto slow down
Prevents the drive from automatically slowing down if read errors occur.
Immediate read
Forces the drive to immediately start reading instead of waiting until the
adjusted maximum speed is reached.
Lock/Unlock
Locks or unlocks the drive's tray (prevents/allows eject function).
SCSI / Drive Info
Shows information about the SCSI hardware involved with the current CDROM
drive.
The lower part of the window shows the currently selected CDROM drive. Use the
button labeled with three dots to select a different drive (if you have more
than one Plextor CDROM in your system).
Eject
Yes: it open's the drive's tray.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. "Medium" dialog page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialog displays the contents of the inserted CD. The list displays the
total size of the disk, number of tracks and sessions, and lists each track
with its type and length.
To the right, there are four buttons with the following functionality:
Rescans the CD's table of contents and updates the display
If there is an audio track selected in the list, press this button
to play it.
Stops any current audio playback.
Opens the audio dump dialog where you can store audio tracks as .WAV
files on a hard disk. This is only available if there is an audio
track selected.
The lower part of the window shows the currently selected CDROM drive. Use the
button labeled with three dots to select a different drive (if you have more
than one Plextor CDROM in your system).
Eject
Yes: it open's the drive's tray.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. Specify path and filename prefix ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Type the path and filename prefix of the file(s) you want the selected audio
track(s) to be stored in into the entry field.
Pressing the browse button to the right of the entry field will open a file
dialog you can use to browse the drives and directories on your system.
Notes:
CD-ROM Manager/2 will append "xx.wav" to the string you type, where 'xx' will
receive the number of the track that is stored in this file.
If you type i.e.
e:\tracks\reload
the filename used for the second track on the source CD will be
e:\tracks\reload02.wav
The space required to dump the selected tracks is displayed in the right corner
of the dialog. The available space on the current disk is displayed below; if
this is not enough to dump the selected track(s), it is displayed in red.
During the dump operation, a progress dialog is displayed that can be used to
abort the dump process.
If the space of the target drive is not enough, CD-ROM Manager/2 dumps as much
as possible.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. Audio dialog page ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Use this dialog to adjust the signal that is sent to the analog audio connector
of your Plextor drive.
Volume
Sets the analog audio signal volume.
Audio channel mapping
Allows you to set the mappings for audio channels one and two.
