  3. There is a problem with IBM OS/2 2.1 Demonstration CD-ROM in that there is
  4. no procedure to create the 2 required installation diskettes with a DOS-only
  5. system.  The existing procedure requires an OS/2 system with REXX installed
  6. in order to complete the procedure.

  8. Therefore, this package contains images of the two diskettes needed to boot
  9. a CD-ROM system, so that you can install OS/2 2.1 and the demo files from
  10. the CD without first having to install (and then destroy!) OS/2.

  12. The diskette images are:
  13.   21DEMOA.DSK
  14.   21DEMOB.DSK
  15.  
  16. These are equivalent to OS/2 2.1's Installation, and Disk 1.  However, they're
  17. not identical, since there is some configuration information which refers
  18. specifically to the OS/2 2.1 Demonstration CD-ROM.

  20. In addition to this package, you'll also need a copy of IBM's LOADDSKF.EXE
  21. program.  If you don't already have a copy, you can obtain it from IBM's
  22. PC Company BBS system.  The phone number is 919-517-0001.  Download the file
  23. called LDF.COM from directory 10.  When you execute this file, it will
  24. automatically unpack into the LOADDSKF.EXE program you need.

  26. If you haven't already done so, unZIP 21DEMOCD.ZIP to get the diskette
  27. image files.  Format two 1.44mb 3.5" diskettes and label them as:
  28.   OS/2 2.1 Demo CD-ROM Installation
  29.   OS/2 2.1 Demo CD-ROM Disk 1

  31. To unpack the .DSK files:
  32.   Insert the Installation diskette into drive A: and key:
  33.     LOADDSKF 21DEMOA.DSK A:
  34.  
  35.   Next insert Disk 1 into drive A: and key:
  36.     LOADDSKF 21DEMOB.DSK A:
  37.  
  38. Once both diskettes have unpacked without error, you're free to erase the
  39. following files:
  40.   21DEMOCD.ZIP
  41.   21DEMOA.DSK
  42.   21DEMOB.DSK
  43.   LDF.COM
  44.   LOADDSKF.EXE
  45.   README.CD    (this file)

  47. You're now ready to boot the system with the Installation diskette.  BEFORE
  48. YOU DO SO, make sure you read the README.NOW file on the CD-ROM to determine
  49. which kind of installation you wish to do.
