Overview:
---------
Lechleitner's Utilities/2 2.00 is a very small but growing couple
of command line file- and directory-utilites for OS/2. I plan to add
many new features in 1998 (See chapter "Future Plans" below, also)
Usage:
------
* LCD directory
LCD changes the directory. Of course, in comparison with the standard
CD command, there is a really interesting feature:
LCD supports jokers like '*' and '?' !!!
The following features are planned for the near future:
- /S forces LCD to scan a directory tree to find a certain subdirectory
- /F forces LCD to change to the directory, where a certain file is
- /P forces LCD to search only the directories in the PATH
* LSYNC sourceDir targetDir [/q] [/s] [/v]
LSYNC does a "hard" one-directory-synchronization of a copy of a dirctory.
That means:
After running LSYNC, targetDir contains an exact copy of sourceDir.
Files that only exists on the targetDir are deleted!
Files that are newer on the target are overwritten!
/Q quiet mode. Only errors and a short summary are printed.
/S let LSYNC work also the subdirectories of sourceDir and targetDir.
/V enables verbose mode an really each step of work is written.
Tips:
-----
Keep watching for the oncoming new features!

This version of Lechleinter's Utilities/2 is Freeware.
Future Releases may be ShareWare.
Please eMail me
- if you use Lechleinter's Utilities/2 regulary
or
- if you are interested in more features
or
- if you just like Lechleinter's Utilities/2
Freeware means that you may do anything you want, but:
You must NOT sell Lechleitner's Utilities as commercial product.
Of course you are invited to publish the LU/2 on CD-ROMs, FTP-Servers,
BBSes and so and, as far as you do not make changes to the package or
remove this ReadMe- and License-file from it.
Future plans:
-------------
There are three directions for future work:
1. Further Utilities: The following additional commands are planned:
Approximately with Version 2.10
LDEL......for deleting files
LFF.......for finding files
LFS.......for calculating size and diskspace usage of files
LRD.......for removing directories (also ones not empty)
Approximately with Version 2.20
LCOPY.....for copyiing files
LMD.......for creating directories
LMOVE.....for moving files
L*........for whatever
2. More options and more intelligence like:
Supporting more than one file- or directory-specification
Supporting jokers in the path !!! (e.g. "ldel sre\v1*\*bak")
Supporting some features that users tell me to implement
3. Support of more than only local drives:
Working with UNCs (may already work partially - just try),
and, with version 3.0, which will be Shareware (around 10 US$):
Working with certain URLs (FTP://*, HTTP://*, ...)

Getting new Versions and further information
--------------------------------------------
There are several sources for new versions and further information:
The Lechleitner's Utilities/2 Homepage can be found at
http://www.ibcl.at/software/lu.
The binaries and ReadMe's can also be accessed via FTP at
ftp://ftp.ibcl.at/Software/lu.
I will also upload new versions at least to the LEO OS/2 archive that
can be found at http://www.leo.org/pub/comp/os/os2/ and has some mirrors.
Further, there is a mailing-list lu-info@listserv.ibcl.at. Just mail to
this address and put "subscribe" or "subscribe <yourMailAddress>" in the
subject or in the first line of the body. I promise you will not get any
foreign advertisement from me.
Last but not least, you might find new versions on OS/2-related CD-ROMs.
