  13. FILESTAR DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM

  15. This program is full-featured with all features enabled. It is
  16. being made available for all users to freely evaluate so they
  17. can decide if the program meets their needs and expectations. It
  18. will expire and refuse to run 30 days after installation. It is
  19. free of nags and notices except for a reminder upon startup when
  20. the number of days remaining for evaluation is less that 5 days.
  21. If you decide to purchase the program you may do so by visiting
  22. www.filestar.com.

  24. This program can not be re-installed unless you hack the
  25. prevention mechanism - which is a violation of the license to use
  26. it and is punishable by law. Furthermore, hacking the program
  27. re-install prevention and continuing to use the program violates
  28. the spirit in which this program is made available and in the
  29. long term can only be hurtful to all parties.

  31. This file describes the procedures for installing the FileStar/2
  32. Demonstration application.

  35. FILES AND FILENAME CONVENTION
  36.  
  37. When you download the application from an Internet server, you
  38. will have one file named FS21DEMO.EXE. This is a self-extracting
  39. executable zip file which contains a compressed file, the
  40. installation program files and this text file.

  42. FS21DEMO.EXE contains:
  43.     F2199306.001  -   Compressed distribution file
  44.     SHSINST.EXE   -   SHS InstallStar installation program
  45.     SHSINST.HLP   -   Installation program help file
  46.     SHSINST.INF   -   Installation program information file
  47.     INSTALL.TXT   -   This file.    -

  49. F21 is major/minor version, 99306 is last 5 digits of level.

  52. DEMONSTRATION INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  53.  
  54. 1.  Run the self-ectracting zip file FS21DEMO.EXE in a temporary
  55. directory. When completed you should have the files listed above
  56. in the current directory.
  57.  
  58. 2.  Open an OS/2 window and change to the directory where the
  59. installation files are located.
  60.  
  61. 3.  You may start the install program with or without the
  62. compressed file as a parameter. The F2199306.001 file is the
  63. compressed file that contains all other files and installation
  64. definitions.
  65.  
  66.     (a) If you start the installation program with a command of
  67.     'SHSINST F2199306.001' you will bypass the Source Directory
  68.     dialog.
  69.  
  70.     (b) If you start with 'SHSINST' the Source Directory dialog
  71.     will appear. Press the browse button and double click the
  72.     F2199306.001 file. This will complete the source path in the
  73.     dialog.

  75. 3.  Press the 'License' button (required to enable the Install
  76. button) and read the License. When finished with reading the
  77. licence, you may read the README.1ST file by pressing the
  78. 'Readme' button.

  80. 4.  Press the 'Install' button to start the installation. A
  81. Target Directory dialog will appear. The Target Directory dialog
  82. entry field should be displaying a directory FILESTAR on the boot
  83. drive. You may change the drive/directory manually or use the
  84. Browse button to select the target directory. The target
  85. directory will be created during install if it does not exist.
  86. Press Ok to accept the target directory as entered and the
  87. extraction of files will begin.

  89. 5.  Normal installation creates a Desktop folder named 'FS Demo'.
  90.  
  91. 6.  InstallStar online help is available by pressing the F1 key or
  92. the 'Help' pushbutton.

  95. UNINSTALL
  96.  
  97. To uninstall the demostration program, simply delete the
  98. directory in which it installed. The program does not write to
  99. the OS2.INI or config.sys files and is completely contained in
  100. that directory.
