  1. FILE FREEDOM 2.02 October 1999 DISTRIBUTION
  2.          File Freedom is distributed electronically as Freeware.  This
  3.          is the latest code and there have been no limitations inserted
  4.          or features removed.
  5.          Also, the source code is now freely available at my web site
  6.          and possibly at other sites.

  15. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
  16.          File Freedom is a very fast, powerful, PM file manager with
  17.          an uncluttered, easy-to-use interface.  It is designed to be a
  18.          quick and efficient utility that excels in file management
  19.          and is also easy to use.  Yet, it does not skimp on features.
  20.          In fact, you will find in File Freedom advanced features not
  21.          found in other file managers.  It also provides two
  22.          harmonious, yet distinct methods of file management:
  23.          Drag and Drop for those who prefer it, and its native method
  24.          which is quite fast and easy.

  26.          In addition to the basic file operations such as copy, move,
  27.          rename, delete and changing attributes, File Freedom also
  28.          supports advanced features such as the capability to look
  29.          inside a zip file WITHIN a zip file, and configurable timers
  30.          to automatically refresh the drive table and file folders if
  31.          you are using File Freedom on a network.  Other recent
  32.          features include a system of Directory Bookmarks that allow
  33.          quick access to frequently used directories, an Auto-Scroll
  34.          implementation that speeds selecting or unmarking of files
  35.          with the mouse, and an Append operation that allows text files
  36.          to be joined together.

  76. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  77.          First, from an OS/2 command line, unzip the File Freedom package
  78.          into the desired subdirectory.  Then, change to this directory and
  79.          also from the command line, run File Freedom.  It will create a
  80.          desktop object of itself (look for two rough looking red "F"s) and an
  81.          INI file in this same directory.
  82.          No changes are made to the CONFIG.SYS file.
  83.          Once the program is started press F1 for online Help. A Help
  84.          screen is displayed and an overview of File Freedom (General Features)
  85.          is the first section in Help.  This also contains information on how
  86.          to customize the look and functionality of File Freedom.
  87.          Links to all areas of Help can be accessed following this section or
  88.          from the Help Menu.
  89.          Context-Sensitive Help is also displayed during any task by
  90.          pressing F1.

  92. GETTING INFO-ZIP's ZIP 2.1 and UNZIP 5.2
  93.          File Freedom will only support versions of Info-Zip's
  94.          compression /decompression set later than Zip 2.1 and
  95.          Unzip 5.2.  These can be found at various ftp sites
  96.          (zip21x2.zip and unz520x2.exe) but the latest versions are
  97.          always available at: ftp.uu.net/pub/archiving/zip
  98.  
  99. VIEWERS
  100.          By default, File Freedom is set to use the OS/2 multimedia
  101.          viewers for examining multimedia files.  Some may prefer
  102.          other, more capable, viewers however.  A very capable and
  103.          fast freeware graphic viewer is GBMV written by Andy Key.
  104.          It is available on Hobbes (hobbes.nmsu.edu) as
  105.          "os2/graphics/gbm.zip". Many other freeware and shareware
  106.          file viewers can also be found there.
