  18. ftp sites, and BBS systems. If you intend to distribute ZED, please read the
  19. section on distribution.

  39. ZED is a fully functional text editor for OS/2.  ZED is also shareware.

  50. You will receive confirmation of your registration along with your 
  51. serial number.  This entitles you to support, free upgrades and notices
  52. of other new products.

  60. ZED Shareware Agreement

  63. You are allowed to use ZED and evaluate it for a period of 
  64. thirty (30) days from the date of installation.  The original install
  65. date is displayed in the status bar along the lower edge of the main window.
  66. After using ZED for thirty days, you must decide if it's something you
  67. want to keep.  If you wish to keep ZED, you must register. 
  68. If not, you must discontinue use of ZED.
  69.  
  70. When you register you will be assigned a serial number that you can use to 
  71. obtain support via email, free upgrades, and notices of new products.
  72.  
  73. I've put many long hours of coding and testing into ZED.
  74. My goal is to provide an editor for OS/2 that is easy to use and more
  75. functional than those supplied with the system.
  76.  
  77. The shareware concept only works if you do your part to support the authors.
  78. If you find ZED useful and do not register, you're hurting me and other
  79. shareware developers.

  81. ZED will continue to function after the 30-day trial period,
  82. as I do not believe in cripple-ware, but you are violating this 
  83. agreement and hurting yourself and me if you don't register.

  87. What is shareware?
  88.  
  89. Shareware applies to software products you are allowed to try before you buy,
  90. like ZED.
  91. That way, you will know if the product is of use to you.  If you find the
  92. product useful and wish to continue using it beyond the trial period,
  93. you must pay for the product.  This is usually called registration.
  94.  
  95. If you don't find the product useful, you must delete it from your computer.
  96. It is also nice to contact the author of the shareware and tell them 
  97. why you don't want it and things they could do to improve the product.
  98.  
  99. Shareware helps keep the software market competitive, and prices
  100. lower for everyone.  The shareware concept does not work when someone 
  101. decides to keep and use a product without registering it.
  102. This hurts the shareware author, and eventually shareware users.
  103. So please register the shareware that you like and use on a regular basis.

  125. This file should be on the original ZED distribution floppy, or it is the
  126. file you downloaded.

  136. You are not allowed to make any changes to any of the original files.

  138. You are not allowed to sell ZED for profit unless it is part of a 
  139. shareware-only archive like Walnut Creek's HOBBES CD-ROM.

  142. 4. Installation
  143. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  144. ZED will not run until it is installed properly.
  145.  
  146. ZED 1.0s requires the following files for successful installation:

  148. ZED.EXE
  149. ZED.HLP
  150. ZED.ICO
  151. README.TXT
  152. INSTALL.EXE
  153.  
  154. If you do not have these files, ZED will not install properly.
  155. Please try to get an original copy of the ZED_10S.ZIP distribution
  156. file or contact me at ivisoft@cybernetics.net or Bruce_Shankle@msn.com.
  157. I will be happy to get you a fresh copy.

  159. ZED will not run unless it is installed with the INSTALL.EXE program that
  160. comes with ZED.

  162. Be sure to virus-scan all files before installing ZED.
  163.  
  164. To install, run INSTALL.EXE from the distribution floppy diskette or from 
  165. a directory where all of the above files are located.
  166.  
  167. The install program will prompt for a directory to install to. The default 
  168. is C:\ZED, but you are given the opportunity to change this.
  169.  
  170. Do not attempt to install ZED to the same directory from
  171. which you are running INSTALL.EXE. The installation will fail.
  172.  
  173. INSTALL.EXE does not modify any of your system files but will
  174. create a ZED object on the DeskTop.
  175.  
  176. The ZED.ICO file, the icon for ZED is included for your convenience.
  177. ZED.ICO contains bitmaps for all OS/2 supported resolutions.
  178. You may modify this icon to suite you.
  179.  
  180. The first time you run ZED, you will be asked to read
  181. the registration information in the online help.  Please take
  182. the time to read the information.
  183. This "nag" occurs only the first time you run ZED, or if
  184. ZED.INI get's deleted.
