This is OS/2 Port of wvWare-0.6.4, which is Micro$oft
Word 2/6/95/97/2000 to HTML conversion tool.
This release is our second effort to port this
application to OS/2, but there are still some problems which
we didn't found how to solve.
First, we didn't have enough time to port all the libraries
required to build this package, so, some features will not
work or will work incorrectly, for example most images
and ole objects will not be extracted from .doc
Second, we didn't have enough time to make wv library as well
as png, wmf, zlib, magick and others to be compiled as DLL.
So, all executables are really HUGE (Did you read this in
previous README.OS2? There was a mistake. Those files was TINY ;)
cause they statically linked with all the libraries listed above.
But now we're half way to solve this problem, we already
converted some libraries to dll but they are not included cause
it's not recomended to mix omf and a.out libraries when linking
executables. We hope we'll release "correct" versions of this
applications very soon.
If you have any suggestions about this, specialy libtool,
please contact us.
NOTE that this is a port of *nix application, so, due to there
is no drive letters in *nices, all the utilities may incorrectly
deal with drive letters in paths. We DO NOT recommend you to
use ANY drive letters in any parameters. We also DO NOT recommend
you to run all of these applications on drives which differs from
the drive you installed wvWare on.
After wvWare has been installed, you should read all the README
files, wvHtml.man, which explains how to use wvHtml, and everything
you find interesting in info directory.
Also there is 1 and wv directories, which contains manuals and
helper scripts (written in sh). We did not converted them to rexx
because they using external programs which do not exists on (our)
OS/2 platform(s). If you find us wrong, please contact us.
Please verify that your system has emx 0.9d installed!
Also check out README file to find how this program work.
