  8. Wordstar like Editor available for OS/2, Windows
  9. and Linux (planned) which reads Wordstar 4-7 and ASCII
  10. (ISO and IBM codepage) and writes Wordstar 4 and ASCII
  11. format (ISO and IBM codepage).

  13. WSedit is part of the wordprocessing suite "Write&Set"
  14. which consists of two programs: WSedit and WSformat.
  15. WSformat is not part of this archive file.

  17. WSedit as stand-alone application is Freeware, the
  18. Write&Set package containing both WSedit and WSformat is
  19. Shareware.

  21. The idea of WSedit is to have a modern graphical 32-bit 
  22. application with look-and-feel of old Wordstar for DOS. But 
  23. you can also use WSedit without knowing Wordstars 
  24. Ctrl-commands ("Ctrl" is abbreviated ^) and without knowing 
  25. about the Wordstar file format: if you don't use the 
  26. Wordstar file format, WSedit is a powerful text editor for 
  27. large ASCII files with/without word wrapping. In this case, 
  28. it will be nevertheless useful for you to take a look at the 
  29. dot commands for unformatted files and at the Ctrl commands.

  31. The behaviour of WSedit depends on the text file extension. 
  32. In the settings notebook (Ctrl-OO), you can define different 
  33. properties dependent on the file extension of the file.

  35. Most Wordstar commands are supported, press Ctrl-J for a 
  36. Ctrl key summary.

  38. Changes in WSedit 0.94 since 0.92:
  39. - Menu bar (can be switched off, see menuitem Options)
  40. - Alternate appearance of popup menu (see menuitem 
  41.   Options)
  42. - "highlighted cursor": after a while with no cursor 
  43.   movement, the cursor is marked by a lightblue cross; 
  44.   pressing CTRL without another key forces the highlighted 
  45.   cursor immediately
  46. - modified behaviour when starting WSedit without a file 
  47.   (see Settings notebook - page Save).

  49. Changes in WSedit 0.95:
  50. - the search and search/replace dialog accepts
  51.   printer characters (enter ^ and B or write a hash #,
  52.   followed by three digits for the ASCII decimal code)

  54. The Write&Set archive file has got an installation
  55. program included creating file associations both for
  56. WSedit and WSformat. It also includes a WS text file
  57. containing the WSedit docu which can be printed
