VLAUNCH
Gustavo Verdun's View Launcher Version (1.31)
Copyright 1994 Gustavo H. Verdun
All Rights Reserved
WARRANTY
There is no warranty for VLAUNCH. It is distributed for free
and is therefore not bound to any warranty. The source code is
distributed as-is to registered users only.
REGISTRATION
If you send me U$10, I will promptly mail you a copy of the
latest version, complete source code, and an Individual User
License (IUL). Using VLAUNCH at a business, or in a commercial
setting, requires the purchase of a U$25 Business User License
(BUL). This license allows a business to use the current version
of VLAUNCH on all computers owned by the company.
International orders require additional postage. Electronic
delivery via Internet email or direct modem to modem (Only if you
call me.) can save both of us time and money.
AS OF SEPTEMBER 1, 1994 I WILL BE RASING THE REGISTRATION
FEE TO U$20 FOR AN INDIVIDUAL LICENSE AND U$50 FOR A BUSINESS USE
LICENSE.
DISTRIBUTION POLICY
Vendors must read the VENDOR.DOC file, that is included in
the distribution archive, for a complete description of the
distribution policy. VLAUNCH may be distributed to anyone for
free. No compensation may charged except to cover the costs of
the diskette and postage. VLAUNCH cannot be distribute via CDROM
without the express written permission of the author. (There is
no charge to obtain permission. You are only required to
distribute a customized executable that will include your CDROM
title in the distribution list.)
DESCRIPTION
VLAUNCH will scan your hard disk for all of the *.INF files
in the specified search path. It allows you to select and view
the *.INF file from a list box. This program is designed to be a
better (i.e. working) replacement for IBM's VIEWALL. The design
of the program is very much the same. Many improvements over
VIEWALL have been incorporated.
DRAG AND DROP
You can drag and drop the following objects on the list box
in order to invoke the specified actions:
Table I: Drag and Drop
Object Action When Dropped On List Box
Drive Icon Scans the drive this icon indicates for all
.INF books.
File Icon Add the file to the list only if it has the
.INF extension.
Drives Folder Scans all drives for .INF books.
Directory Folder Scans the directory this icon indicates for
all .INF books.
All drop operations only append new items to the list.
FEATURES (Many more features are available see HISTORY.DOC)
* VLAUNCH can be minimized safely. (Unlike VIEWALL which
is not in the switch list.)
* Saves the current bookshelf when the program
terminates. This makes the startup a lot quicker.
* Re-sizeable main window.
* All of the information about a book is in the list box.
(No sub-menu like in VIEWALL to see book's location.)
* All functionality in the program is through a button
bar at the bottom. (Just like in VIEW.)
* You can specify a custom search path to search for all
books. (Unlike VIEWALL which uses the environment
variables to limit its search.)
* User can select the execution priority class and level
for the threads that load the bookshelf at startup and
the thread that searches for books.
SPECIAL FEATURE
You may delete the selected entry from the list box by
pressing the delete key. This feature allows you to eliminate any
unwanted books from the bookshelf. Pressing ESC will clear the
current selection an show the top of the list.
