SUBJECT: OS/2-TEX

This are the TeX compiler and INITeX for OS/2.
I didn't compile it - please don't ask me if you get trouble.
I tested it with TeX input from PC-TeX and it worked.
A note for users not so familiar with TeX - a complete TeX system
consists of the following parts:
(1) The TeX compiler (this piece of software).
(2) The TeX-Input, consisting of macro packages, hyphenation information
and font information.
(3) The format files. They are created by INITeX from (2).
(4) A screen previewer for the created DVI files.
(5) A printer driver which prints the DVI file on paper.
(6) Fonts.
Because the most of you which are interested in TeX probably have a DOS
version of TeX, (2) will not be a problem because you can use the TeX
input from the DOS version and create (3). Also you can use the fonts
(6) from your DOS version. But (4) and (5) will be a problem because I
have not yet seen a previewer nor a printer driver for OS/2 TeX. There
are sources available somewhere but it will be a lot of work to port
them and get them work with your fonts (6) because they often are
device-dependent. If you ever get a previewer and/or a printer driver
or create one yourself, PLEASE POST IT HERE with sources if possible to
allow others to adapt it to their fonts. I am shure there are enough
people who would like to use TeX on OS/2 but do not have the time to
write this two programs themselves.
