  6. KIXFILE is a CICS file editor. Here a version of KIXFILE for CICS OS/2
  7. is supplied. Versions of KIXFILE for OS/MVS and DOS/VSE are available
  8. from AVACS Corp. by request.

  10.     1. CONDITIONS OF THE AGREEMENT
  11.  
  12. The supplied version of KIXFILE will be operational for two months.
  13. If you wish to obtain KIXFILE for unlimited period of use,
  14. contact the AVACS Corp. by mail, phone or fax. The price of KIXFILE
  15. for unlimited use is $199.99.

  17.     2. INSTALLATION
  18.  
  19. To install CICS OS/2 version of KIXFILE you have to unzip file which
  20. you received on drive A: (copy KIXFILE.EXE to A: and run KIXFILE.EXE).

  22. You have to bring up CICS OS/2 in order for installation to work.
  23. After that you have to say:
  24.     A:>install
  25. The installation program will ask a few questions which you will have
  26. to answer.

  28.     3. PRECOMPILING OF LAYOUTS (OPTIONAL)
  29.  
  30. If you wish to have formating functionality of KIXFILE, you have to
  31. precompile the maps (layouts). In order to do this you have to run
  32. supplied command file KIXFLAYC.CMD in OS/2 session. KIXFILE will
  33. ask you questions about the names of the layouts.

  35.     4. FUNCTIONALITY
  36.  
  37. After the installation KIXFILE is ready for work.
  38. KIXFILE permits you to do the following:
  39.     First Screen: Provides Selection of Maps (Layouts) or Files;
  40.     It allows to:
  41.         - Select by full name;
  42.         - Select by generic name;
  43.         - Select a list of names.
  44.     Second Screen: Allows to Specify Search Criteria; It allows to
  45.     specify:
  46.         - Search conditions;
  47.         - Boolean operators between search conditions;
  48.         - Range of search.
  49.     Third Screen: Provides Inquiry at Glance; It allows to:
  50.         - List of records in characters;
  51.         - List of records in hex;
  52.         - Browse records by different methods;
  53.         - Delete records.
  54.     Fourth Screen: Provides Editing of a Single Record in Unformatted
  55.     Screen; It allows to:
  56.         - Browse a record;
  57.         - Find character/hex string in the record;
  58.         - Update the record in the file.
  59.     Fifth Screen: Provides Editing of a Single Record Formatted by
  60.     Fields; It allows to:
  61.         - Format the record in character or hex fields;
  62.         - Browse the record;
  63.         - Find field name by character string;
  64.         - Change the field in character or hex representation;
  65.         - Update the record in the file;
  66.         - Print the record in a report formatted by fields.
  67.     Sixth Screen: Provides a List of Maps (layouts) or Files in CICS
  68.     System; It allows to:
  69.         - Review all VSAM files;
  70.         - Locate a name of file in the list;
  71.         - Review all record maps (layouts);
  72.         - Locate a name of map (layout) in the list;
  73.         - Print the map (layout).
  74.     Seventh Screen: Provides Display of Map (Layout) with Offset and
  75.     Length Information; It allows to:
  76.         - Browse map (layout);
  77.         - Find field name by a character string;
  78.         - Print the map (layout) with field offsets and lengths.
