DH_ClipSave/2 Version 2.0
Registation: $10 (US)
DH_ClipSave/2 is an OS/2 PM utility that saves text from the OS/2
clipboard directly to a file without asking you for a file name.
Why? One problem I have with reading usenet newsgroups is dealing
with all the information. I copy text to the clipboard and (if I
remember) save it to a file, and THEN I have to hope I remember what
file name was used and where it is.
DH_ClipSave/2 provides a quick solution to that problem. Once you
create one or more DH_ClipSave/2 program objects on your OS/2
desktop, a double click on the DH_ClipSave/2 object will append the
text from the OS/2 clipboard to a file. You might want to have a
DH_ClipSave/2 object for CommProblems, SoundProbs, NeatTips,
SpeedTuning or whatever--use your imagination.
You may specify a file name on the parameters line in the program
object settings notebook or allow the default file name to be used.
If so, the default "CLIPSAVE" file will be located in the working
directory.
Each time DH_ClipSave/2 is executed, a time stamp precedes the text
copied from the OS/2 clipboard. You might use the date as I do to
aid in locating information in the file.
The shareware demo version of DH_ClipSave/2 has two features
disabled. It does not insert a time stamp in the destination file,
and the you cannot specify a destination file name.
As a shareware program, if you continue to use it you should register
it. There is no built in code to check how long the program has been
in use, so it is up to you to determine a reasonable trial period.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing DH_ClipSave/2
Unzip the distribution archive into a temporary directory and execute
the INSTALL.CMD file.
The resulting installation routine will:
- Install DH_ClipSave/2 on the OS/2 desktop
- Ask you into which destination drive and directory to place the
working files
- If that directory does not exist, it will be created
- If it is the registered version, it will ask you which version
to install. You choose from versions for these CPUs
-- 386
-- 486
-- 586/686/Pentium
- If it is the registered version, it will ask you for a name
for the saved text.
- If it is the registered version, it will ask you for a name
for the desktop program object.
NOTE: The demo version is not CPU specific.
DH_ClipSave/2 does NOT modify the OS/2 clipboard or the OS/2 INI
files.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Error Indicators
Although this is a PM utility, the window remains hidden, along with
all the underlying work.
Since the window is never visible, DH_ClipSave/2 beeps if there is an
error. There are two error conditions that the user must resolve,
both involve the destination file being written.
If the destination file cannot be opened or created, DH_ClipSave/2
will issue four beeps, each at a higher frequency.
If there is a problem writing to the file, DH_ClipSave/2 will issue
six beeps of the same frequency.
Any other combination of beeps should be reported to the author.

Registering DH_ClipSave/2
Registered users feel good about supporting OS/2 developers and enjoy
these additional benefits:
Access to two additional executable files that were compiled with the
486 and 586 compiler options. These versions offer some performance
improvement for users with 486, Pentium, or equivalent CPUs.
Support via e-mail. Send help requests and good ideas to me at
dwhawk@southwind.net.
There are two ways to register DH_ClipSave/2. Through BMT Micro and
directly with the author.
------------------------------
Registration through BMT Micro:
BMT Micro accepts credit cards and is therefore more convenient for
most OS/2 users outside the United States. BMT Micro's price to
register DH_ClipSave/2 is $10.00 (US).
BMT Micro will also distribute DH_ClipSave/2 on floppy disk to those
users who do not have Internet access. There is an additional fee
for shipping and handling of the floppy disk.
------------------------------
Registration direct with me:
Stuff large bills, gold coins, diamonds or even checks (US banks
only, please) valued at $10.00 (US dollars) into an envelope and mail
to:
Don Hawkinson
4555 N. Hillcrest
Wichita KS, 67220-3832
USA
Please don't send $100 bills (or larger) in the mail without
purchasing full postal insurance. Also, no change will be returned
because it is absolutely unsafe, and unwise, to send cash through the
mail.
The registered version and all upgrades are distributed via my web
page, so make certain your e-mail address is included with your
registration fee. I need it to send you the information you need for
the download.
Registered users will be notified of updates via e-mail.
Registration covers all 2.xx versions of DH_ClipSave/2.
Thanks for trying DH_ClipSave/2 and Happy Reading-Clipping,
Don
