  20. 1.  Place the pointer on a tabstop in the ruler.
  21. 2.  Press button 1, keep it pressed, and move it. 
  22. 3.  Watch text align to new positions.
  23. Tabstops and Tabmarks make tabs work:
  24. Tabstops:  Tabstops are placed on the horizontal ruler. Clicking button 1 of the pointing device on the horizontal ruler creates a tabstop. A tabstop is displayed as a red diamond. Pressing button 1, keeping it pressed and moving the pointer, moves the tabstop. Pressing button 2 on the tabstop invokes its settings.
  25.  Alternately the Alt+'+' keys also create a tabstop on the ruler. Pressing Alt+'+' again on the same position invokes the tabstop's settings. 
  26.  Remember: A tabstop resides in the horizontal ruler and causes a stop to the horizontal displacement when pressing the tab key!
  27. Tabmarks: Tabmarks are placed in the flow of text of the document. Once a tabstop has been set in the horizontal ruler, pressing the tab key will cause the cursor to advance to the next tabstop in the horizontal ruler and to insert a tabmark in your document. Tabmarks (as well as other text controls) will appear by pressing F7. The tabmarks exists independently of the tabstops that helped to create them! Removing a tabstop in the ruler does not remove the tabmark in your document. Cutting and pasting text between documents will maintain the tabmarks embedded independently of different tabstop settings in the documents. You can always move existing tabmarks by moving the tabstop in the ruler, if their horizontal positions correspond. You can also move the cursor to an existing tabmark in the text, press Alt+'+' to create a new tabstop in the ruler and then cause the tabmark to move by moving the newly created tabstop! You can change the settings of  the tabstop and have all tabmarks with the same horizontal position as that tabstop adopt the new settings. By pressing Ctrl+Tab you can also create a tabmark in your document without a corresponding tabstop in the ruler.
  28. Indents:  These three paragraphs have been indented by placing a tabmark at the indent position. The flow of text will be indented, starting at the tabmark and ending at the next forced end of line (carriage return). Displacing the tabmarks will reformat the indented paragraphs.
  29. Owner:  Tabstops are shown in the horizontal ruler, they are owned by the text cell. Each text cell can have a different tabstop setting.K
