----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use of the OS/2-2.1 version of Bedit2
Bedit2 is a 32-bit, multithreaded binary file editor. Even large
files can be edited since Bedit2 uses OS/2's virtual memory facilities.
The files are displayed in rows of 16 hex values on the left side of
the screen with the corresponding ASCII values displayed on the on the right.
Normal display is black text on a white background.
The number of rows depends on the screen resolution; the window dimensions
are chosen to occupy most of the screen, but you may resize it as
desired. Different font sizes are chosen for each different resolution
to keep the actual size of the characters nearly constant.
Strings or sequences of byte values or short integers may be inserted,
searched for, or searched for and replaced. The arrow keys, Page
Up, Page Down, Home and End, as well as a "Goto" dialog input, provide for
quick movement through the file.
The program can load a file from the command line. Otherwise a dialog box
appears to facilitate file selection. You can also assign Bedit2 to a
program template and launch the program from an icon on the desktop.
Complete online, context sensitive help is available once Bedit2 is
started.
The original version of BEDIT was written for DOS to use as an in house
tool while Scientific Endeavors was upgrading the fonts that come with
their graphics library GraphiC. The OS/2 port was started by George
Kelley, one of the founders of Scientific Endeavors, to learn Presentation
Manager programming. After he died his son Steve completed the project. We
find Bedit2 very useful in our work and hope you will also.
Please be sure to register your copy of Bedit2. The registration fee is
$15.00 US.
Scientific Endeavors Corporation also produces the GraphiC Library, a
collection of high-level 'C' routines for creating publication quility
technical graphics. There are versions of GraphiC for DOS, DOS with the
PharLap 286|DOS Extender, Windows, Windows NT, and OS/2. GraphiC is source
code compatable across all supported platforms. You can write one program
which can be compiled and linked with all of the versions of GraphiC
without modification.
The Windows and OS/2 versions allow you to program your PC in the GUI
environments without having to make any GUI API calls.
GraphiC handles all of the GUI interface issues for you and provides
helper macros for getting prompted input and displaying text or messages.

Owners of registered copies of Bedit2 will receive a $15.00 credit toward
the purchase of GraphiC.
