  5. FILEJET is NOT "Public Domain" and it is NOT "Freeware".
  6. FILEJET is a copyrighted software product developed and owned by
  7. Frank Klosek. FILEJET is distributed under the shareware
  8. concept.  You are free to copy and use the software for personal
  9. use and shareware distribution in its original, unmodified form
  10. provided no fee beyond reasonable media and/or shipping charges
  11. is levied.
  12.  
  13. If you are using the software for personal use, your required to
  14. license the software after a 30 day evaluation period  and
  15. become a FILEJET supporter.  FILEJET supporters will receive the
  16. next major release free of charge and be keep informed of major
  17. developments.  A license is required for use of FILEJET by
  18. corporations and institutions, and for its commercial
  19. distribution.  You may obtain a license for the use of FILEJET
  20. by writing to me.  The license is for perpetual, non-exclusive
  21. use of any version.  Purchase orders and invoicing are
  22. acceptable.  If you have special requirements, such as licensing
  23. for an unlimited number of copies, local area networks, site
  24. licenses, or customization, please feel free to submit them in

  180. FILEJET is a Filemanager and Editor for MS-DOS (WINDOWS) und OS/2. FILEJET
  181. allows a uniform Operation in the two Operating Systems.
  182.  
  183. Quick access to files is realised by one key stroke per operation. (Shortcut
  184. Keys).
  185.  
  186. FILEJET is a small program with about 200kB Disk usage per Operating System.
  187. It's perfectly usable as servicetool, even startet from floppy disc.
  188.  
  189. Directorytrees are saved on harddisk and read only after user action. Quick
  190. access to the Directories is possible without reading the whole tree.
  191.  
  192. FILEJET supports long filenames (HPFS) and networking.
  193.  
  194. Multiple file edit is possible with the integrated fileeditor. Functions to
  195. copy text from one file to another are implemented.

  201. You can define in Setup for the following functions your own programms.

  208. These programms are started with the actual file as parameter if the specific
  209. function is activated.
  210. 2.2 Start large programms
  211.  
  212. In the DOS Version the program uses Expanded- or Extendedmemory to swap
  213. program memory while before executing commands. This allows starting large
  214. programms using the whole DOS Memory.
  215.  
  216. 2.3 User Pulldown
  217.  
  218. With the definition of a User Pulldown you can pop up a pulldown whenever
  219. FILJET waiting for a key by pressing the Hotkey ALT-F7.
  220.  
  221. This is for example usable during copying a lot of files to floppy disk. If
  222. FILEJET asks you for a new disk and you haven't got a formatted one. Pressing
  223. ALT-F7 allows you to jump to the operating system, or if defined format
  224. directly a disk. After leaving the Userpulldown FILEJET continues normal
  225. operation.
  226. 3.0 Operating concept

  228. The following picture shows the main window of FILEJET after program start.
  229. In the file window you see all directories and all files in alphabetic order
  230. (default). It is possible to show the directory in a second window.

  278. In the filelist, the directorytree and the filewindow of the Editor, you can
  279. change Drive by pressing  CTRL- and the specific drive key.

  332. For some functions, the program uses dialog windows. You can jump from one
  333. edit field to another with TAB and SHIFT-TAB. In an editfield you can
  334. immediate edit the string after activating the specific field.

  336. Yes/No Buttons are marked with [ ] and toggeld with the SPACE key.

  415. RETURN selects the actual file. The filecursor moves forward one file.
  416.  
  417. Directories can't be selected. Pressing RETURN on a directory changes the
  418. path to it.
  419.  
  420. If the file is already selected, pressing RETURN disables the selection.
  421.  
  422. 'K' for MASK defines a filemask for the filewindow. All files matching the
  423. mask are displayed. An empty entry causes *.* for the filemask.
  424.  
  425. 'S' for SELECT selects all files matching the entered selection mask.
  426.  
  427. With 'N' for INVERSE SELEKTION all files not matching the selection mask are
  428. selected for further operations.
  429.  
  430. 'U' for UNSELECT deselects all selected files.

  435. A special algorithem allows file and selection masks like *.[c-h]. All files
  436. with extension c,d,e,f,g, and h will be displayed or selected.

  438. Its also possible to define masks normally not available under DOS or OS/2 :

  440.    w*x.exe   , all files with w at the beginning and x
  441.                as last char before the extension are selected or displayed

  550. 3.2.2.2 Copy Files

  554. This function copies files or directories. Copying one file or multiple files
  555. with confirmation causes FILEJET to display a warning if the destination file
  556. already exists.
  557.  
  558. If files are copied to floppy disk and the disk space is exhausted, a new
  559. disk is demanded.
  560.  
  561. If no formatted disk is present pressing ALT-F7 displays the User Pulldown.
  562. In this Pulldown there should be at least one entry to jump to the operating
  563. system for further operations.
  564.  
  565. If you copy directories, you can copy the whole directory tree. Empty
  566. subdirectories will be created.
  567.  
  568. After activation the function the destination path should be entered in the
  569. command line. If  the directory is new, it will be created after accepting.
  570. It is possible to enter multiple directories without existance of the single
  571. subdirectories. All directories will be created.
  572.  
  573. Example :

  575.  Directory : C:\test\x\y\z is entered and on drive c: exists
  576.                            only \test, then \x\y\z

  826. files of a destination directory comparing date, time, size and existance.

  840. You can use the compare function to compare whole subdirectory trees.

  861. The search mask is entered with wildcards and directory names.

  1402. 4.0 Installation of FILEJET

  1404. You can install FILEJET with the Installationsprogram called INSTALL.EXE. All
  1405. files will be copied to the specified destination directory.
  1406.  
  1407. Then you have to define your programs like editor, wordprocessing and file
  1408. viewer in the SETUP Pulldown of FILEJET. To activate this Pulldown you have
  1409. to enter ALT-T.
  1410.  
  1411. Programentries must be entered including the complete path of the program.
  1412. FILEJET checks the existance of the program before accepting the name.

  1415. 4.1 Environment and FILEJET-Files

  1417. FILEJET needs one Environmentvariable called FILEJET.  Please set it in
  1418. CONFIG.SYS (for OS/2) or in AUTOEXEC.BAT (for DOS) to the path, the file and

  1439. In the FILEJET-Preference File (fj.pre, fj2.pre) you can combine a
  1440. fileextension with a command you want to execute with files matching this
  1441. extension. After executing QUICK-START in the filelist, the actual
  1442. fileexetension is searched in the preference file, and when found directly
  1443. executed.

  1445. During command execution with 'o' for COMMAND the preference file is
  1446. searched, and the resulting command is offerd for further edit functions in
  1447. the command line.
