  3. Welcome to DeDump(tm), Lennane Advanced Product's
  4. Presentation Manager hexadecimal dump utility.
  5.  
  6. Read through this file for installation and application
  7. information.

  18. DeDump features:
  19.      - Hexadecimal dump with the ASCII equivalent
  20.      - Dual cursors to cross reference Hex and ASCII
  21.        equivalents
  22.      - Output to a line printer, and
  23.      - Powerful color program that lets you select the
  24.        color of printable and non-printable characters.

  28. INSTALLATION
  29.  
  30. This file assumes you already are familiar with OS/2 and
  31. the Presentation Manager. If you are not, please read
  32. the appropriate documentation before installing DeDump.
  33.  
  34. The version of DeDump runs under OS/2 and Presentation Manager
  35. Version 1.10.
  36.  
  37. Before installing DeDump, make a copy of this disk and store
  38. the original in a safe place. This is the only copy you are
  39. allowed to make under terms of the license agreement.
  40.  
  41. To install DeDump on your hard disk, copy the program file
  42. (DEDUMP.EXE) to any directory.
  43.  
  44. In the Presentation Manager Start Programs window, add
  45. DeDump to the list of programs.
  46.

  48. USING DEDUMP
  49.  
  50. To start DeDump, either double-click on DeDump in the
  51. Start Programs window, or double-click on DEDUMP.EXE in
  52. the File Manager window. DeDump also can be opened from
  53. OS/2 by typing DEDUMP, with or without a filename, in
  54. the directory containing DEDUMP.EXE.
  55.  
  56. When the DeDump window will appear you will see two
  57. pull-down menus at the left end of the Action Bar: File
  58. and Exit. Help is activated by clicking Help at the
  59. right end of the Action Bar.
  60.  
  61. Using the File menu, you can open a file, print a file,
  62. set screen color preferences and find out about DeDump.
  63.  
  64. The Exit menu allows you to exit from DeDump or Resume.
  65. The Exit action closes the DeDump window.
  66.  
  67. There are fast path keys for most menu selections, they
  68. are listed to the right of the menu selection.

  87. The Help menu provides descriptions of DeDump
  88. operations.
  89.  
  90. To dump a file, choose Open... from the File Menu.
  91. Select the drive, directory and name of the file you
  92. want to open, or type in the path and file name. Click
  93. Open and the file is dumped in hexadecimal and ASCII.
  94.  
  95. The top and left rows are the addresses. The far right
  96. section is the ASCII version (if it is not visible on
  97. the screen, Maximize the DeDump window). In the center
  98. is the dump information.
  99.  
  100. Four colors are used in the DeDump utility. The colors
  101. differentiate the addresses, the background, the
  102. printable characters and the non-printable characters.
  103. The colors are user definable and can be modified
  104. through the Set Preferences dialog accessed through the
  105. File Menu. These color settings override the default
  106. Presentation Manager settings. NOTE: If you are using a
  107. monochrome monitor, the color selections are black,
  108. white, dark gray and pale gray.
  109.  
  110. Once a color is changed, the selection is stored when
  111. DeDump is closed.
  112.  
  113. To change a color setting, choose Set Preferences...
  114. from the File menu. The Set Preferences dialog appears.
  115.  
  116. Select the screen area to be changed, and scroll the
  117. color list on the right of the dialog. The current
  118. color is indicated to the right of the entry. Click the
  119. color and Click Ok to save the setting. (Note: Click
  120. Esc=Cancel to remove the dialog and retain the previous
  121. selections.)

  123. To print out the hexadecimal information, choose Print
  124. File from the File menu. A dialog will prompt for
  125. printer selection. Select the printer and click OK to
  126. dump the file or Esc=Cancel. To change or add printers
  127. to this list, use the Control Panel in the Presentation
  128. Manager.

  130. To dump another file, choose Open... from the File menu
  131. and select the file. The file on the screen is replaced
  132. by the newest selection.
