  12.     The VIA Bus Master IDE controller is a high performance Bus  Master  PCI 
  13.   IDE controller. This "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Driver"  distribution  floppy
  14.   is used to utilize the DMA operation of your Hard disk/CD-ROMs  drives  in 
  15.   order to release the I/O loading from the  CPU. You  could  refer  to  the
  16.   related section to install the driver individually.

  29.    * This package should be installed on the VIA Bus Master IDE chipset,
  30.      VT82C580VP or later, and others' chipset will not be supported.

  32.    * The "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Driver" supports the following Operation

  73. 3)  Windows 95 Driver

  76.     ** Driver Installation **

  78.       Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install"  button  then it will 
  79.     install the "VIA IDE Bus Master Driver" automatically on your Windows 95
  80.     system. It will copy the driver to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS and  set 
  81.     the related registry tree.

  84.     ** Enable/Disable DMA **       
  85.     ************************
  86.       The default setting is the DMA mode. You could turn off the DMA setting
  87.     by running "SETUP.EXE"  again  and select the "Enable/Disable DMA" button 
  88.     to disable the DMA mode.

  91.     ** Driver Uninstallation **
  92.     ***************************
  93.       You  could remove the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Driver" by selecting the
  94.     "Uninstall" button. It will completely remove the driver from the sytsem.

  96. 4)  Windows NT Driver

  98.     ** Driver Installation **   
  99.     *************************
  100.       Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install"  button  then it will 
  101.     install the "VIA IDE Bus Master Driver" automatically on your Windows NT
  102.     system. It will copy the driver to the \WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS  and  set 
  103.     the related registry tree.

  105.       You should follow the procedure listed below to complete the  install-  
  106.     ation.

  108.       a) Select the "SCSI Adapters" icon on the "Control Pannel"
  109.       b) Select the "Add.." button on the "Drivers" sheet.
  110.       c) Select the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Driver" and click "OK" button.
  111.       d) Reboot the sytem.

  114.     ** Enable/Disable DMA **       
  115.     ************************
  116.       The default setting is the DMA mode. You could turn off the DMA setting
  117.     by running "SETUP.EXE"  again  and select the "Enable/Disable DMA" button 
  118.     to disable the DMA mode.

  121.     ** Driver Uninstallation **    
  122.     ***************************
  123.       You could remove the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Device Driver" by  running
  124.     the "SETUP.EXE" again to uninstall the driver. "VIA Bus  Master  PCI  IDE 
  125.     Device Driver" will not be started by this operation. You  could  restart
  126.     it latter if it is necessary. After the reboot, the default "IDE CD-ROM (
  127.     ATAPI) Dual-channel PCI IDE Controller" driver will be started.

  129.      If you want to totally remove the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Device Driver"
  130.     then you could follow the steps listed below.

  132.       a) Select the "SCSI Adapters" icon on the "Control Pannel"
  133.       c) Select the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Driver".
  134.       b) Select the "Remove" button on the "Drivers" sheet.
  135.       d) Reboot the sytem.

  138. 5) Package Version Identify
  139.      You could check this distribuation version and release date by using 
  140.    the DATE\TIME displayed by using dir/p command, e.g :

  144.      The time column is 2:30a which means the package distribution version
  145.    is 2.1.1 and is released on the Sep. 06 '97.
