  2. *    VIA  Bus Master PCI IDE SCO UNIX Device Driver README file    *

  5. This README file is provided the information how to install the 
  6. VIA Bus Master PCI IDE device driver to your SCO UNIX Operation System.
  7.  
  8. Please follow these steps listed below to install the VIA Bus Master PCI IDE
  9. device driver.
  10.  
  11. The following steps are used to convert the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Device
  12. Drivers" which is prepared with DOS format to a SCO UNIX "custom" 
  13. installable diskette.
  14.  
  15. 1.  You need to have an extra blank diskette ,1.2 MB (5.25") or 
  16.     1.44 MB (3.5"), to complete the installation.
  17.  
  18. 2.  Login to the SCO UNIX with "root" supper user account.
  19.  
  20. 3.  Insert the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Device Drivers diskette" into the 3.5"
  21.     disk drive.
  22.  
  23. 4.  Type the following commands under the SCU UNIX prompt "#":

  25.           # doscp a:/unix/install /tmp
  26.           # sh /tmp/install
  27.    
  28.     Here the "a:" drive name is the 3.5" disk drive. In all of the 
  29.     installation the device name will be assigned to "a:". You could
  30.     change the "A=" row of the "/etc/default/msdos" to the device name
  31.     accroding to your system configuration.

  33. 5.  Above step will convert the DOS format diskette to a new SCO UNIX 
  34.     "custom" installable diskette.
  35.  
  36. After this conversion step, you could install the "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Device
  37. Driver" to your SCO UNIX with the "custom" command.
