PowerTape 4000 IBM
This file contains instructions in the following sections
for installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM :
- A. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM Under IBM OS/2 v2.x
- B. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM Under IBM OS/2 v1.3
A. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM Under IBM OS/2 v2.x:
In order for Sytos Plus to access this backup device, the
following three lines must appear in CONFIG.SYS:
BASEDEV=[ADD-name].ADD
BASEDEV=OS2SCSI.DMD
DEVICE=[drive:]\[path]\SYFILES\CMS_2GBB.SYS
Where [ADD-name].ADD is the appropriate Adapter Device
Driver for your host adapter. Refer to the Sytos Plus
README for the list of ADDs currently supported with
this release of Sytos Plus.
You must remove any REM (if it exists) from the third
line shown here. Note that [drive:]\[path] represents
the drive and directory where the Sytos Plus files were
installed and should already be displayed in your
CONFIG.SYS.
Also note that [ADD-name].ADD and OS2SCSI.DMD are the
names of the IBM OS/2 v2.x device drivers. If the
BASDEV= statements do not appear in CONFIG.SYS, refer to
the OS/2 v2.x documentation for installation
instructions.
After changing your CONFIG.SYS file, you need to shutdown
and reboot your system for these changes to take effect.
B. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM Under IBM OS/2 v1.3:
In order for Sytos Plus to access this backup device, the
following two lines must appear in CONFIG.SYS:
DEVICE=C:\OS2\SCSI.SYS /N:4
DEVICE=[drive:]\[path]\SYFILES\CMS_2GBB.SYS
You must remove any REM (if it exists) from the second
line. Make sure that these two lines are in the order
shown.
Note that [drive:]\[path] represents the drive and
directory where the Sytos Plus files were installed and
should already be displayed within these statements.
Also note that SCSI.SYS is the name of the IBM SCSI
Device Driver. If the DEVICE=C:\OS2\SCSI.SYS /N:4
statement does not appear in CONFIG.SYS, you will need to
add it as follows:
1. Insert your copy of the Sytos Plus Install diskette.
2. At the prompt enter DDINSTAL.
3. Be sure to select the SCSI Device Driver.
4. Check CONFIG.SYS so that the two device driver lines
appear in the order shown:
DEVICE=C:\OS2\SCSI.SYS /N:4
DEVICE=[drive:]\[path]\SYFILES\CMS_2GBB.SYS
5. Check also that there is no REM on the line
containing CMS_2GBB.SYS.
6. Reboot your system.
Note that after changing your CONFIG.SYS file, you need
to reboot for these changes to take effect.
