  1. PowerTape 4000 IBM 
  2.  
  3. This file contains instructions in the following sections
  4. for installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM :
  5.  
  6. - A. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM  Under IBM OS/2 v2.x
  7. - B. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM  Under IBM OS/2 v1.3
  8.  
  9. A. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM  Under IBM OS/2 v2.x:
  10.    In order for Sytos Plus to access this backup device, the
  11.    following three lines must appear in CONFIG.SYS:
  12.  
  13.           BASEDEV=[ADD-name].ADD
  14.           BASEDEV=OS2SCSI.DMD
  15.           DEVICE=[drive:]\[path]\SYFILES\CMS_2GBB.SYS
  16.    
  17.    Where [ADD-name].ADD is the appropriate Adapter Device
  18.    Driver for your host adapter.  Refer to the Sytos Plus
  19.    README for the list of ADDs currently supported with
  20.    this release of Sytos Plus.
  21.  
  22.    You must remove any REM (if it exists) from the third
  23.    line shown here.  Note that [drive:]\[path] represents
  24.    the drive and directory where the Sytos Plus files were
  25.    installed and should already be displayed in your
  26.    CONFIG.SYS.

  28.    Also note that [ADD-name].ADD and OS2SCSI.DMD are the
  29.    names of the IBM OS/2 v2.x device drivers.  If the
  30.    BASDEV= statements do not appear in CONFIG.SYS, refer to
  31.    the OS/2 v2.x documentation for installation
  32.    instructions.

  34.    After changing your CONFIG.SYS file, you need to shutdown
  35.    and reboot your system for these changes to take effect.

  37. B. Installing the PowerTape 4000 IBM  Under IBM OS/2 v1.3:
  38.    In order for Sytos Plus to access this backup device, the
  39.    following two lines must appear in CONFIG.SYS:

  41.           DEVICE=C:\OS2\SCSI.SYS /N:4
  42.           DEVICE=[drive:]\[path]\SYFILES\CMS_2GBB.SYS
  43.  
  44.    You must remove any REM (if it exists) from the second
  45.    line.  Make sure that these two lines are in the order
  46.    shown.

  48.    Note that [drive:]\[path] represents the drive and
  49.    directory where the Sytos Plus files were installed and
  50.    should already be displayed within these statements.

  52.    Also note that SCSI.SYS is the name of the IBM SCSI
  53.    Device Driver. If the DEVICE=C:\OS2\SCSI.SYS /N:4
  54.    statement does not appear in CONFIG.SYS, you will need to
  55.    add it as follows:

  57.      1. Insert your copy of the Sytos Plus Install diskette.
  58.      2. At the prompt enter DDINSTAL.
  59.      3. Be sure to select the SCSI Device Driver.
  60.      4. Check CONFIG.SYS so that the two device driver lines
  61.         appear in the order shown:
  62.           DEVICE=C:\OS2\SCSI.SYS /N:4
  63.           DEVICE=[drive:]\[path]\SYFILES\CMS_2GBB.SYS
  64.      5. Check also that there is no REM on the line
  65.         containing CMS_2GBB.SYS.
  66.      6. Reboot your system.

  68.    Note that after changing your CONFIG.SYS file, you need
  69.    to reboot for these changes to take effect.
