ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Installing OPTI 928/929 Crystal Semi Audio Support ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The OPTI 928/929 Audio adapter is designed to run in Windows Sound System mode.
The Soundblaster settings are for running DOS games. The Opti 928/929 Audio
adapter will automatically emulate Soundblaster when a DOS game is loaded.
Consult the following sections for more detailed information on parameters for
each mode.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Installing for Crystal Semi-Conductor Audio ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This installation contains support that allows you to emulate the Windows Sound
System. To enable this hardware you must select the hardware settings that you
wish the Crystal Semi-Conductor Audio to be installed on. These selections can
be made from the valid list boxes under the Crystal Semi-Conductor Audio Only
category and the Port category.
The valid options are:
o Port
o IRQ
o Playback DMA
o Capture DMA

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Installing SoundBlaster Emulation ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This adapter has support that allows you to emulate a SoundBlaster. To enable
this support, select the hardware settings for the SoundBlaster emulation.
These selections can be made from the valid list boxes under the SoundBlaster
Only category and the Port category.
The valid options are:
o SB Version
o SB DMA
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.1. SoundBlaster Version Options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The SoundBlaster Emulation mode supports 4 versions of SoundBlaster. The
correct version should be chosen to reflect the version of SoundBlaster that
your applications support.
The SoundBlaster versions supported are:
SoundBlaster 1.5
SoundBlaster 2.0
SoundBlaster Pro
SoundBlaster 4.4

The SoundBlaster Emulation mode supports three valid DMA choices.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Installing CD-ROM Support ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The hardware allows you to operate several types of CD-ROM connected to the
soundcard. You can choose the hardware settings that your CD-ROM is operating
on by selecting the valid CD-ROM choices in the CD Type, CD Port and CD IRQ
list boxes.
Note: This program will not install your CD-ROM Drivers. You must run SELECTIVE
INSTALL to install the CD-ROM Driver for your CD-ROM either before or after
this install to be able to use your CD-ROM Drive with the OPTI 928/929 audio
adapter.
Valid CD-ROM Options are:
o CDType Options
o CDPort Options
o CDIrq Options
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.1. CDTypes Supported ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The OPTI 928 supports three CD-ROM Types. The OPTI 929 supports four CD-ROM
Types.
The valid CDType choices are:
Mitsumi
Panasonic
Sony31A
Generic IDE (OPTI 929 only)
You must have your CD-ROM device driver already installed on the system for the
audio adapter to recognize it. Please see Installing CD-ROM Support for
details on installing CD-ROM Driver support.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.2. CDPorts Supported ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This adapter supports up to four different CD-ROM Ports depending on the CD-ROM
Type chosen. You will not be able to chose some CD-ROM Ports depending on the
type of CD-ROM chosen, as these are not supported by that particular CD-ROM
Type.
The valid CD-ROM Ports are:
320 (Mitsumi, Sony31A)
330 (Panasonic, Sony31A)
340 (Mitsumi, Panasonic, Sony31A)
360 (Sony31A)
These choices will vary depending on your hardware configuration.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4.3. CDIrqs Supported ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This adapter supports up to seven different CD Irqs that can be selected
depending on the CD-ROM Type chosen. You will not be able to select CD-ROM Irq
choices that are not supported by your chosen CD-ROM Type.
The valid CD-ROM Irqs are:
None (Mitsumi, Panasonic, Sony31A)
3 (Mitsumi, Sony31A)
5 (Mitsumi, Sony31A)
7 (Mitsumi, Sony31A)
9 (Mitsumi, Sony31A)
10 (Mitsumi, Sony31A)
11 (Mitsumi, Sony31A)
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Enabling Joystick Support ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The adapter allows you to select whether or not you wish to use a Joystick with
your applications. Select enable from the Joystick list box if you intend to
use your joystick and disable if you do not have a joystick, or don't wish to
have it enabled.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Windows Audio Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This Installation allows you to install Windows Audio Support onto your system.
Select the values needed based on the prompts displayed for your Audio adapter.
The values chosen should be based on values that were picked for the OPTI
928/929 audio installation.
