  18. KIPP Developers Toolkit Users
  19. ------------------------------
  20. For KIPP Developers Toolkit users, you must upgrade to KIPP v2.12 before
  21. you can use these drivers.  Contact Kofax or your Kofax distributor for
  22. more information.

  25. Connecting the Scanner with a Video Connector
  26. ---------------------------------------------
  27. When using an IS520 (video) scanner with a Kofax accelerator board, 
  28. specific firmware levels are required on the PCB inside the scanner. 
  29.  
  30. To verify that your scanner has been certified to work with the Kofax 
  31. accelerator board, look for the following label inside the lamp access 
  32. door: 
  33.  
  34.    Kofax Compliant Single Channel Video 
  35.    
  36. This label verifies that the required PCB and firmware are installed 
  37. in the scanner as follows:

  46. If you need assistance verifying that your IS520 (video) scanner has the 
  47. correct PCB and firmware, please contact your Ricoh service representative.
  48. Note that these requirements do not apply to either the IS510 scanner or 
  49. the SCSI version of the IS520.

  52. Setting Switches on the SCSI Scanner
  53. ------------------------------------
  54. To ensure that your Ricoh IS510/IS520 SCSI scanner operates properly when 
  55. connected to a Kofax KF-9275 accelerator board, you must set the DIP 
  56. switches on the rear panel of the scanner as follows:

  61.    2         ON
  62.    3         OFF
  63.    4         OFF
  64.    5         OFF
  65.    6         OFF
  66.    7         OFF

  69. Switches 2 and 8 must be ON. Note that switch 5 can be either ON or OFF,
  70. depending on your scanner model, as follows:

  72.    Switch 5 ON:   IS510 (simplex scanner)
  73.    Switch 5 OFF:  IS520 (duplex scanner)

  80. The scanner drivers and other files that you need to support the Ricoh
  81. IS510/IS520 scanners (video and SCSI) are included in KRIS5X0.EXE. 
  82. (KRIS5X0.EXE is a self-extracting, executable file.)

  84. To explode KRIS5X0.EXE, copy it to a temporary directory and type 
  85. KRIS5X0.EXE.  KRIS5X0.EXE contains these files:

  97. To install the drivers, the files listed above must be manually copied 
  98. to the appropriate directories. The directories you must copy the files 
  99. to depends on whether you are using KIPP ImageControls or the KIPP 
  100. Developers Toolkit. Follow the steps in the sections below as appropriate 
  101. for your needs.

  108. Follow these steps to install the drivers and files for use with KIPP
  109. ImageControls. By default, KIPP ImageControls is installed to C:\IMGCTLS,
  110. although this might be different on your system.

  112.    1.  Copy the new SCNAPI.DLL file to your ImageControls BIN directory.
  113.    2.  Copy the new .OUT files to your ImageControls DRIVER directory.
  114.    3.  Copy the new .BLF files to your ImageControls DRIVER directory.
  115.    4.  Reboot your system.
  116.    5.  Use the Kofax Configuration Program from your Windows Control Panel
  117.        to configure your scanners.

  121. KIPP Developers Toolkit

  124. Follow these steps to install the drivers and files for use with the KIPP
  125. Developers Toolkit. By default, the KIPP Developers Toolkit is installed
  126. to C:\KIPP, although this might be different on your system.

  128. Note that you must have KIPP v2.12 installed on your system to use the
  129. drivers.

  131.    1.  Copy the new .OUT files to your KIPP DRIVER directory.
  132.    2.  Copy the new .BLF files to your KIPP DRIVER directory.
  133.    3.  Reboot your system.
  134.    4.  From the KIPP BIN directory, run KIPPCFG to configure your
  135.        scanners.
