  13. This driver version support APA-1460 PCMCIA card for Laptops installed
  14. with PCMCIA sockets and AIC6360 Adapter card as well. The Advanced Power
  15. Management (APM) support also has been added for AIC-6360 chip used
  16. internally in notebooks.
  17.  
  18.     After the notebook goes through a suspend/resume cycle, the
  19.     user should be able to access the devices connected to the
  20.     SCSI bus as before, if devices remain same. The system will
  21.     not hang in the case where the SCSI devices have been removed
  22.     after suspend.
  23.     
  24.     This release has added /SN command line switch for CDROM to
  25.     run synchronously as well as other devices. Without this switch
  26.     CDROM will run asynchronous (default mode).
  27.     
  28. This driver is based on OS/2 V3.0 (WARP) operating system.

  30. ***** NOTE *****
  31. Currently, only one APA-1460 card is supported.

  33. Installation instructions for the APA-1460 OS/2 2.0 PCMCIA Driver
  34.                       
  35. 1) Open the OS/2 System folder, then open the Selective install.
  36.  
  37. 2) Do PCMCIA installation.
  38.  
  39. 3) Edit CONFIG.SYS file and add BASEDEV=AHA152x.add.                
  40.  
  41. 4) Copy AHA152x.add to \OS2\BOOT directory.
  42.  
  43. 5) Do a SHUTDOWN and power off the system.
  44.  
  45. 6) Insert the APA-1460 card into the PCMCIA socket and connect to the
  46. SCSI peripherals.
  47.          
  48. 7) Power up and reboot the system.
  49.  
  50. ***** NOTE *****
  51. In order to install this driver for APA-1460 card, the system has 
  52. to have OS/2 V3.0 pre-installed. Currently, IBM does not have the 
  53. support for CDROM installation with any PCMCIA card attached to 
  54. a CDROM. Therefore, it is NOT recommended to do OS/2 CDROM 
  55. installation using PCMCIA card. 
  56.  
  57. Currently IBM does not have APM support for PCMCIA card.
  58.  
  59. Installation instructions for the AIC-6x60 OS/2 2.0 Driver
  60.                       
  61. 1) Open the OS/2 System folder, then open the System Setup folder.
  62.  
  63. 2) Select Device Driver Install.
  64.  
  65. 3) Insert the driver diskette in the appropriate drive.
  66.  
  67. 4) CHANGE to the directory where the drivers are located.
  68.    The OS/2 2.0 driver files are usually in the OS2_20 directory.
  69.  
  70. 5) When you have found the drivers, select INSTALL.
  71.  
  72. 6) The system will be scanned for host adapters. If a host adapter is 
  73.    found, you will see this message in a pop-up window:

  77.    Another message will appear when the driver has successfully been
  78.    installed. If no host adapters are found, an error message will
  79.    be displayed.

  84. If you are installing the driver on the GA release of OS/2 2.0, you
  85. cannot install the driver by selecting the icon in the System Setup
  86. folder. Instead, open a full-screen OS/2 session and go to the 
  87. directory where the drivers reside. Then type DDINSTAL and press ENTER.

  90. The driver includes the following features:

  92. 1) Double word PIO transfers.
  93.  
  94. 2) B-mode DMA transfers (EISA systems only)
  95.  
  96. 3) Fast SCSI support.
  97.  
  98. 4) Backward compatibility with the driver for the AIC-6260.
  99.  
  100. 5) Extended BIOS translation is supported on the AIC-6360.
  101.  
  102. 6) Full support for all command line options.

  104. Bug fixes since the previous (06/30/93) release:

  106. 1) Fixed problem in initializing DMA channel 6.

  110. 1) Supports BIOS new translation scheme (for BIOS signature
  111. 52H or 53H) for greater than 1GB hard disk drives.

  121. AHA152X.ADD
  122. This driver can support two host adapters and searches for them at ports 340H 
  123. and 140H; boards are assigned adapter numbers in the order they are found.

  125. Universal Parameters
  126.     /SN - Allow synchronous negotiation (DEFAULT).
  127.     /!SN - Prevent synchronous negotiation.
  128.  
  129. Special Unit Parameters
  130.  
  131.      /BOFF:t - allows the bus-off time to be set to a value between 1 and
  132.         15 microseconds. The default value for OS/2 2.0 is 4 microseconds 
  133.         and this should be used for most systems. (05/03/93 and later)
  134.     *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an 
  135.     EISA system. 
  136.  
  137.         /BON:t - allows the bus-on time to be set to a value between 1 and 15 
  138.         microseconds. The default value for OS/2 2.0 is 7 microseconds and 
  139.         this value  should be used for most systems. (05/03/92 and later)
  140.     *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an 
  141.     EISA system.

  143.     /CHAN:x - Specifies the DMA channel to be used in DMA mode. The 
  144.         available channels are 0, 5, 6 and 7. If an invalid channel is 
  145.         specifed, then 5 is used by default.
  146.     *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an 
  147.     EISA system. 
  148.  
  149.     /D - Allow targets to disconnect from the SCSI bus (DEFAULT).
  150.      /!D - Prevent targets from disconnecting from the SCSI bus.
  151.  
  152.     /DMA - Use direct memory access to transfer data to/from the SCSI bus.
  153.     *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an 
  154.     EISA system. (05/03/93 and later)
  155.  
  156.      /H:x - Specifies the host adapter SCSI ID. A number from 0-7 replaces x. The 
  157.                default ID is 7. If you specify an invalid number, 
  158.                the default is used.
  159.  
  160.     /PIO - Use programmed I/O to transfer data to/from the SCSI bus.

  163.            /Y - Enable parity checking on the SCSI bus (DEFAULT).
  164.            /!Y - Disable parity checking on the SCSI bus.
