  7.                         Mouse Hardware
  8.                         --------------
  9. All LOGITECH Mice work with the IBM OS/2 mouse drivers. 
  10. Proper installation for the various types of mice is as follows:
  11.  
  12. Serial Mouse
  13.     Select "Mouse Systems Mouse" during OS/2 installation
  14.     ("DEVICE=MOUSEx00.SYS SERIAL=COMn" in CONFIG.SYS). 
  15.     Replace "x" in "MOUSEx00.SYS" with "A" for AT-type computers 
  16.     or "B" for PS/2 computers.

  19. Serial Mouse under OS/2 SE ver 1.2 8-31-89 and 11-10-89 'refresh' releases:   |

  21.    OS/2 only installation:                                                    |
  22.                                                                               |
  23.         Select "PC Mouse Systems Mouse" during OS/2 installation              |
  24.         ("DEVICE=C:\OS2\PCMOU0x.SYS SERIAL=COMn" in CONFIG.SYS) and           |
  25.         ("DEVICE=C:\OS2\MOUSE.SYS TYPE=PCMOU$" in CONFIG.SYS).                |
  26.         The "x" in "PCMOU0x.SYS sould be "1" for AT-type computers            |
  27.         or "2" for PS/2 computers.  Default install is to COM1 so the         |
  28.         "SERIAL=COMn" may only be needed for COM2 mouse installations where   |
  29.         "n" would be replaced by "2".  If you have a LOGITECH serial mouse    |
  30.         on COM2 you will have to edit CONFIG.SYS and manually add the         |
  31.         "SERIAL=COM2" to the DEVICE line that has the PCMOU0x.SYS driver.     |
  32.                                                                               |
  33.         The Logitech mouse will be in PC Mouse mode when in the DOS box.      |
  34.         Thus any DOS applications that are mouse aware should be installed    |
  35.         for the Mouse Systems PC Mouse, Visi-On Mouse or Torrington Manager   |
  36.         Mouse.  Many apps which expect the MS Mouse will still work ok with   |
  37.         the Logitech mouse in PC Mouse mode.                                  |

  39.    OS/2 SE 1.2 Dual Boot:                                                     |
  40.                                                                               |
  41.         To use IBM's dual boot with DOS 4.0 (whose shell is mouse aware       |
  42.         but only for the IBM and MS mice as far as I know) requires some      |
  43.         additional changes.                                                   |
  44.                                                                               |
  45.         DOS 4.0's DOSSHELL.BAT created as part of the install process         |
  46.         includes the mouse driver parameter on the starting with:             |
  47.         "@SHELLC /MOS:PCIBMDRV.MOS/TRAN/COLOR/DOS/etc....                     |
  48.         You need to delete the 'MOS:PCIBMDRV.MOS/' with a text editor.        |
  49.         The latest version of Logitech mouse driver is available on the       |
  50.         vendor's BBS at the number above.  As of 2/90 ver 4.10 was current.   |
  51.                                                                               |
  52.         Then, just before the DOSSHELL command in AUTOEXEC.BAT enter the      |
  53.         command to load the Logitech mouse driver.  To simplify matters,      |
  54.         the easiest thing is to load the Logitech driver in PC Mouse          |
  55.         emulation mode "mouse pc" since if you also run DOS apps in the       |
  56.         OS/2 DOS box the mouse aware apps have to be installed for PC Mouse   |
  57.         anyway.                                                               |
  58.                                                                               |
  59.         HOWEVER!  The Logitech mouse remembers it's last mode even through    |
  60.         warm boots, software initiated cold boots, and even pushing the       |
  61.         reset button on a clone.  You can go from OS/2 to DOS using the dual  |
  62.         boot method but using dual boot to get back to OS/2 leaves my clone   |
  63.         with no mouse and no keyboard.                                        |
  64.                                                                               |
  65.         One solution is not to use a mouse with DOS.  Or use a DOS boot disk, |
  66.         and then turn off the system before restarting from C:.               |
  67.  
  68.         Another is to start the dual boot utility (c:\os2\boot /os2) normally,|
  69.         answer 'y' to the question asked buy BOOT.COM "Do you want to continue|
  70.         (Y/N)?"  and then just after you see the BIOS message (for a clone) or|
  71.         see the A: drive light up (on either a clone or AT) quickly power down|
  72.         (turn off) the system, wait 10 seconds then power up (turn on) the    |
  73.         system.  This happens after the OS/2 boot record, and OS/2 versions   |
  74.         of AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS have replaced the DOS versions so you  |
  75.         will come up in OS/2.                                                 |

  77.         If you get the hung mouse or keyboard condition,  the 'cure' is to    |
  78.         turn the power off, wait a few seconds then restart the system.       |
  79.                                                                               |
  80.         Hopefully, IBM will either add a Mouse Systems PC Mouse driver to the |
  81.         next DOS release as they have done for OS/2 or Logitech will create   |
  82.         one and provide it to its customers who use DOS 4.0 with OS/2.        |

  88. Bus Mouse, EGA & Mouse
  89.     Select "Microsoft Mouse, Bus Version" during OS/2 installation
  90.     ("DEVICE=MOUSEA03.SYS" in config.sys).  
  91.     The OS/2 driver will not recognize the middle button. 
  92.  
  93. Series/2 Mouse
  94.     Install as IBM PS/2 Mouse during OS/2 installation 
  95.         ("DEVICE=MOUSEB05.SYS" in config.sys).  Plugs into mouse port.
  96.         
  97. EGA & Mouse Board
  98. The EGA board works well under OS/2, provided the switches are set to
  99. make it look like a standard EGA - Autoswitching OFF, with enhanced
  100. display.  In some circumstances the board works when set to an Autosynch
  101. display).  We have AutoCAD and Windows drivers that can put the Monitor
  102. in 640x480 mode, and they work in the DOS box, but switching to OS/2 and
  103. back corrupts the screen.  OS/2 will not boot if Autoswitching is ON.

  105.             Mouse Software
  106.             --------------
  107. All of the software mentioned below can only be run in the DOS
  108. Compatibility Box (also known as Real Mode). 
  109.  
  110. Driver
  111. The DOS driver can only be run if the OS/2 driver is not loaded.  
  112. The DOS driver works perfectly in the Compatibility Box.  
  113. Customers who do not have OS/2 applications that use a mouse should use 
  114. the DOS driver, since it appears to update the cursor more frequently, 
  115. giving smoother motion.
  116. Click & Menu are both compatible with Real Mode.

  118.             LOGITECH's Bundled Programs

  120. LOGICADD (Generic CADD)
  121. Can only be used if the OS/2 mouse driver is not installed, because it
  122. tries to take over the interrupt for the mouse (which is not allowed by
  123. OS/2).  It does work if the DOS driver is installed.

  125. LOGITECH Publisher (First Publisher)
  126. Works with both the OS/2 driver and the DOS driver.

  128. LOGIPAINT (PC Paintbrush)
  129. Works with both the OS/2 driver and the DOS driver.

  131. LOGITECH PaintShow
  132. Works with both the OS/2 driver and the DOS driver. Use the EGA mode for
  133. proper operation.
