  18. product under developement but I am still having problems with Code Converter so
  19. I am now writing a utility to convert FOXPRO programs to OS/2 and when I have 
  20. the new app ready it will be placed out here in the forums.

  22. DOS CIM users look after the GCP section to find out how to load the data.

  26. Golden Compass Users (GCP):  Start THREADS then pick GCP from the Load options. 
  27. You will be given a list of files... select the drive and directory.  If you are
  28. going to load ALL of the message files in one shot then you can pick ANY message
  29. file listed, otherwise select the file to load, pick single and the file will be
  30. loaded.  That's it.

  32. DOS CIM USERS:  Yes you CAN use this but it is a bit of a pain (The reason
  33. I have Golden Compass is because this procedure is a real PITA). This is how 
  34. you can load the database.  I have NO IDEA of the file structure for the CIM
  35. storage of threads and I couldn't find it anywhere and I am too lazy to continue
  36. with it as I have GCP now.  If you are running OS/2 this will work if not ...

  39. Start CIM in an DOS window and display the thread on screen:

  59. Select the sys menu (the little icon top left corner of the window) and click on
  60. mark.  Click on the S in Subj: and highlight to the * in the message window. 
  61. Select the sys menu again and click on copy (You have copied the marked section
  62. to the clipboard).  Select the CIM option (from Load) in THREADS and you should
  63. have a screen showing.  Click on Add (So you have a new blank form) and place 
  64. the cursor in the Subject Field (it should have landed there automatically) then
  65. select the sys menu from threads and click on Paste.  You should now see the 
  66. data being entered into the form.  If there is still more text to your message 
  67. go back to the CIM screen and display the next screenfull, highlight the text
  68. (sysmenu mark) and copy it (sys menu copy) then select THREADS again and PASTE
  69. FROM WHERE the cursor is (it should be at the bottom of the first screen of
  70. text).  Keep repeating the process until you finish.  After a couple of hundred
  71. threads you will either not use this software or buy Golden Compass.

  75. Select Dups from the opening Screen - this will remove any data that is added 
  76. twice (when loading all messages and some of the message files are stale).

  80. As far as I can tell the options speak for themselves:

  86. Position will take you to the first record, the next record, the next topic, a
  87. prior record, a prior topic or the bottom of the database.

  89. View filter will allow you to set filters into just a FORUM (Sorry DOS CIM Users
  90. - no Forums for you - but the rest will work), a section within a forum,a 
  91. subject within a section or, just a subject (skip the section field to do this). 
  92. You may also select all messages that are addressed "to:" someone.  Clear will 
  93. remove any filters and return you to the first record in the database.

  95. Search will allow you to enter a text string to search for.  Use Next Msg to 
  96. continue hunting through the records.

  98. Edits will allow you to Delete and UnDelete records.  Any record marked for 
  99. deletion (*DELETED* will display in the top right corner of the screen) will be 
  100. removed from the database when Done is Selected.

  102. Done will return you to the opening Screen.

  107. Set DPMI_MEMORY_LIMIT to 8MB (only for really big databases)
  108. Set EMS_MEMORY_LIMIT to 0
  109. Set XMS_MEMORY_LIMIT to 360KB

  111. If you want the temp files that Foxpro Uses to be placed on a different drive...
  112. create a file called CONFIG.FP with the following line in it:
  113. TMPFILES=X:\
  114. X = the drive letter to place the files on (HPFS will increase the selection
  115. speeds by 10X!)

  117. Well thats all I can think of.  The "Owners of Foxpro" state that I have to hold
  118. them harmless and without responsability for anything this software does.  Since
  119. I am not giving ANY warranty/Guarantee of ANY KIND I think this covers them as 
  120. well.  By loading and using this software application you have agreed to the 
  121. above terms.  In the event you are in a State that gets warantees regardless you
  122. are NOT ALLOWED to use this software!
