  15. There are only a couple of things that you will need to know before
  16. you install TE/2 Pro!
  17.  
  18.  1. If you've downloaded this as a Test Drive, just unzip the distribution
  19.     file into a temporary directory and execute INSTALL.EXE from that
  20.     directory.  If you've purchased TE/2 Pro! Version 2 and received it on
  21.     a diskette, you can simply execute INSTALL.EXE from the diskette or,
  22.     for a faster installation, copy all of the files from the diskette
  23.     into a temporary directory on your harddisk and run INSTALL.EXE from
  24.     there.

  26.  2. This release of TE/2 Pro! Version 2 will cease to function after
  27.     50 executions unless you enter a registration ID code.  If you've
  28.     purchased TE/2 Pro Version 2, contact Oberon Software or the vendor
  29.     from which you made your purchase to receive your registration code.
  30.     If you are running this as a test drive and have decided that you
  31.     would like to continue using TE/2 Pro! Version 2, please contact
  32.     Oberon Software for ordering information.

  34.  3. WARNING: TE/2 Pro! Version 2 will read TE/2 Version 1.31 dialing
  35.     directory files but it will write a format which TE/2 does not
  36.     understand.  If you are using TE/2 1.31, it is imperative that you
  37.     keep your dialing directory files separate.  TE/2 Version 1.32,
  38.     which is now available, will be able to share dialing directory
  39.     files with TE/2 Pro! Version 2.  Contact Oberon Software for
  40.     information on how to get TE/2 Version 1.32.

  44.                  Using the TE/2 Pro! Host Mode Script
  45.         -------------------------------------------------------

  47. The easiest way to use the TE/2 Pro! Host Mode script provided with
  48. this package, is to create a terminal object specifically for the
  49. host mode.  Follow these steps:
  50.  
  51.   1. Open the TE/2 Pro! main window.
  52.   2. Hold the control key down and drag the "Default Terminal" object
  53.      to a vacant area of the TE/2 Pro! main window.
  54.   3. A settings notebook opens automatically.  Change the title,
  55.      device, modem settings, device settings, and so forth as are
  56.      required for your system.
  57.   4. On the Session->Scripts page, enter "TPHOST.SCR" for the
  58.      "Init Script"
  59.   5. Create a user file.  You can start with the single line:
  60.            3,Sysop,Joe,passwd,Y,43
  61.      Change "Sysop" to your last name, "Joe" to your first name,
  62.      "passwd" to your password, the "Y" to "N" if you don't want
  63.      color, and the "43" to number of lines on your terminal screen
  64.      when you call in.  You can add as many lines in this format
  65.      as you would like.  The initial "3" is a "user level" indicator
  66.      which isn't currently used by the TPHOST.SCR but it must be
  67.      present for future compatibilty.
  68.   6. Edit TPHOST.SCR.  Change the following settings to match your
  69.      system:
  70.              MaximumBaud
  71.              HomePath
  72.              PublicPath
  73.              UploadPath
  74.              UserFile
  75.      Note: You may want to create directories for the HomePath, etc.
  76.   7. If you are using FaxWorks for OS/2 and you want TE/2 Pro! Host
  77.      Mode to monitor for incoming faxes, you must also change the
  78.      line the reads:
  79.              FaxAns = 0
  80.      to:
  81.              FaxAns = 1
  82.      And change the FaxPgm variable to the full path/name of your
  83.      FaxWorks executable.  If you are using a Class 1 Fax Modem,
  84.      you must also change the FaxInit variable.  Read the comments
  85.      by these lines in TPHOST.SCR to see what it should be.
  86.   8. Now, open the Host Mode terminal object you created.  You
  87.      can exit host mode any time it is in "waiting for call" mode
  88.      by pressing the ESCape key.
