ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. RhinoCom Install Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
All of the options shown give you the opportunity to back up or abort before
the chosen task is actually performed.
If this is your first time installing RhinoCom, you should probably choose Full
Installation. It is the quickest and easiest way to install RhinoCom.
Selective Installation is useful for those who know which parts of RhinoCom
they need, or for those whose disk space is at a premium.
Uninstall removes RhinoCom from the system.
Complete explanations are available for each option:
Full Installation
Selective Installation
Upgrade
Uninstall
Quit
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Full Installation ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Installs RhinoCom with a minimum of user input. All RhinoCom files, including
all of the provided Splices and Rhinodex entries, will be installed.
You may specify the destination directory or use the default (RhinoCom).
This method asks you to confirm the ComPort Setup.
You will have the opportunity to set up your Initial Rhinodex (Dialing
Directory).
To specify which RhinoCom files to install, choose Selective Installation
instead.
Location: Welcome to RhinoCom Install!
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Selective Installation ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Installs only the files you select.
Defaults are provided for all Selective Installation options. If you use all
of the defaults the result will be the same as using Full Installation.
You may specify the destination directory or use the default (RhinoCom).
This method asks you to confirm the ComPort Setup.
You will have the opportunity to set up your Initial Rhinodex (Dialing
Directory).
For a quick and easy installation, choose Full Installation instead.
Location: Welcome to RhinoCom Install!
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Upgrade ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
If the install program has recognized that you have an earlier version of
RhinoCom on your system, it will give you the option to upgrade that version
into the new one. The benefit of upgrading is that old Rhinos and Rhinodexes
are preserved. New functionality is added to them (such as the ability to
change communication settings at the Rhino level and the ability to change many
Rhinos settings at once from the Rhinodexes).
Location: Welcome to RhinoCom Install!
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Uninstall ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can choose which parts of RhinoCom to uninstall. A complete uninstall
leaves no trace of RhinoCom on your system. If you decide not to uninstall you
can abort the operation.
Location: Welcome to RhinoCom Install!
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. ComPort Setup Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is where you confirm or change settings for the three main communication
parameters. RhinoCom Install provides defaults based on the system hardware
that was detected; unless you know the settings are incorrect, select Next.
If your modem is not yet hooked up, these defaults will probably be incorrect.
If you know what the settings should be you can change them yourself. If you
are not sure, hook up your modem and re-start the install program.
The three parameters are:
Port
Modem
bps
The following buttons are present:
Next
Previous
Quit
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. Port ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the serial Port that RhinoCom will use for communication. If the
default setting is wrong, select the Port to which your modem or direct-connect
cable is connected.
Ports that seem to be unavailable have "not avail" next to them. This
indicates the Install program has determined the port is either in use already
or does not exist. Such a port can still be selected, but do so only if you
are sure it is the correct port.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. Modem ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The install program tries to detect which modem you are using and selects it as
the default.
If the program improperly identified your modem, select your modem from the
list.
If your modem is not on the list, you should probably select Standard Hayes
Compatible.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 9. bps (Baud) ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This is the rate at which your computer talks to your modem. The program has
attempted to determine the maximum speed your modem will support.
For the swiftest communication possible, choose the highest setting supported
by your modem (your modem manual contains this information).
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 10. Initial Rhinodex (Dialing Directory) Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Initial Rhinodex (Dialing Directory) contains a list of the services you
call. Each service you call will have its own configuration file. The fields
shown provide a "base" for creating those files. A few commonly-used services
have been entered already.
Each row of entryfields pertains to a particular service. A configuration file
will be created from each row that has a name in the Service Name field,
regardless of whether the other fields in that row are filled in. If you do
not want a service, delete the entire contents from the Service Name field.
You can enter as many or as few services as you like.
For each service you can enter the following information:
Service Name (required)
Phone Number (optional)
Username (optional)
Password (optional)
The following buttons are present:

Previous
Quti
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. Service Name ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Enter the name of the service this row describes.
Some of the Service Name fields already have text in them. If you do not use
the service displayed, delete the contents from this field.
You can fill in as many or as few Service Name fields as you need. Even if you
do not yet know the Phone Number, Username, or Password for the service, you
can still type in the service name. This will result in creation of a
configuration file for that service. The configuration can be completed later
when you have the other information.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. Phone Number ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Enter the phone number for the service this row describes.
Filling in this field is optional. However, if left blank, you will have to
enter the number later in order to call the service.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 13. Username ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Some services require a registered Username in addition to your Password. Enter
your username for the service this row describes.
Filling in this field is optional.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 14. Password ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Enter your password for the service this row describes.
Filling in this field is optional.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 15. Selective Installation Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Selective Installation lets you choose up to three items to install: the
RhinoCom application, Splices, and Services. Unless you have already installed
RhinoCom, you should make sure that at least the Install RhinoCom box is
checked.
The entryfield across from each checkbox specifies where the item(s) will be
installed.
The following fields allow customization:
Install RhinoCom (checkbox)
Install RhinoCom to (entryfield)
Install Splices (checkbox)
Customize
Install Services (checkbox)

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 27. Final Stage Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This dialog is the last one on which you need to make installation choices.
Once you choose Install, the program begins installing RhinoCom. If you want
to Abort installation, this is your last chance to do so.
There are two fields on this page:
Install RhinoCom from
Destination Directory
The following buttons are present:

diskette.
If the path shown is incorrect, enter the correct path.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 29. Destination Directory ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Shows the drive and directory to which RhinoCom will be installed.
If this does not show the directory in which you want RhinoCom to be installed,
you can use the Previous buttons to reach the Full Installation or Selective
Installation page (depending upon which method you chose). There you can
change the destination drive and path for installation.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 30. Install ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Choose this button to begin installing Rhino.
Note: Once you select Install, the program will begin installing RhinoCom
(i.e. data will now be written to your drive). Do not select Install unless
you are ready for this to happen.
The Install Progress dialog will appear so that you can monitor the progress of
installation.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 31. Next ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
When you are satisfied with the settings shown, use this button to continue to

This button shuts down RhinoCom Install. No changes will be made to your
system.
You will be asked to confirm the abort.
Note: If you ran RhinoCom Install and used Uninstall to remove RhinoCom, Abort
will not undo those changes. It simply shuts down the install program without
performing the current task (i.e. installing or uninstalling).
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 34. OK-Install Complete ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Installation of Rhino is complete. Select OK to dismiss the message box and
