LAN Phone from GUZOFT.
What's new?
This file contains the news for the current version and
also the legend of 4 earlier versions.
=============================================================================
V1.11.
- The user registration of the program (it _IS_ shareware) have been
simplified. Please, see the ORDER.TXT file for details.
- The program did not correctly detect that the Workstation part of the Lan
Server was not started. In this case the program started up without a valid
computer name, which gave some strange effects. Bug is now corrected.
- If the unregistered version of the program initially was left without
confirmation of the Product Information dialog box, then the program, of
course, failed to find it's window positions. The bug is corrected.
V1.1.
- The author is now connected to the CompuServe network. User ID 100411,450.
- The icon changes shape and colors to indicate the state of the phone line.
- You may create a subject to a message sent to an answering machine. This
subject will be visible to the reader without actually opening the message.
- Implemented a dedicated NetBios error handler. (NetBios errors used to be
handled by the ordinary Control Program error routine.)
- Made some error handling a litle bit more user friendly.
V1.03.
- Increased security handling about who may read which message from the
answering machine.
- When the program is fired up, it will check if you have any unread
messages waiting. If so, you will be notified.
NOTE! This is true for the registered version of the program only!
- When you have read an incomming message, you will now be presented the
possibility to read another message automatically.
- When you where offered to send a message to a remote answering machine,
then the remote computer name was presented as both the remote computer
name AND the remote user name. Computer name and user name are now handled
correctly.
- In the "Call list", the list of available remote users, it will now be
indicated by the "Send msg" push-button if the remote user accepts any
messages or not.
V1.01.
- The program is now ready for an "official" release. Version 1.01 is born.
TADA!
Note that the program is now a share-ware program. You are encourraged to
register. One reason is that now I've spent "some" of my free time on this
program and hopefully it will give you some pleasure. Second, if you
register you will get rid of some annoying restrictions. Third, by your
registration you will help me in my work of implementing the file transfer
capabilities in the next version. For more information, please read the
ORDER.TXT file.
- Unregistered copies of the program will allways show the Product
Information dialog upon startup. This is not the case for the registered
version. PLEASE, REGISTER!
- Introduced the phone answering machine.
- Control messages between two instances of the program where sent using the
NetBios datagram services. They are not completely reliable. If the
receiving program is not listening for messages in the EXACT moment as they
arrive, they will be lost. This explains why sometimes you did not get a
complete list of remote users. (When your program does an enquiry on the
network to find out "who's out there", then everybody tries to answer at
the same time, which would overload your instance of the program with
arriving messages. Some of them where lost.)
Now the program sends the enquiry using a NetBios broadcast scheme (since
it does not know who to call unless it know who's there) and all other
control messages are sent using very short reliable sessions.
THIS MAKES THIS VERSION INCOMPATIBLE WITH EARLIER VERSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- If you terminate the program while still connected to a remote computer
you will have to confirm the action.
- If you are connected and the remote program is terminated without doing
a proper hangup (Ctrl-Alt-Del ? ) your program will handle this as a
normal hang-up.
- A serious bug was found. The bug showed up in different ways running on
different machines. (Hard to debug :-) Sometimes it was impossible to start
multiple instances of the program. Sometimes it worked fine until one
instance tried to call another instance in the same machine. Sometimes it
worked fine until one of the instances was terminated. Etc. It allways
ended with a trap, and very often, a system hang. This is now corrected.
- The program requires more NetBios resources. Please, read the README.1ST
file for exact information about the required amount of resources.
- The title bar is updated only when something has changed. (It used to be
updated unconditionally every 15 seconds.)
- In the "Call user..." dialog box, the "Call user" push button is now
disabled as long as no remote user is selected.
- With a new menu option it is now possible to clear both the incoming and
the outgoing windows at the same time.
V0.31 beta.
- Decided to keep only the last 5 versions in the legend.
- When a "copy to clipboard" was done, it became impossible to paste. This is
now corrected.
