  16. How To Install
  17.  
  18. Unzip the contents of disks 1 and 2 to your
  19. hard drive, then run INSTALL.EXE from that directory.
  20.  
  21. If you are installing from disks, simply insert disk 1,
  22. open the Drives folder, then open Disk A:, then double 
  23. click on INSTALL.EXE.
  24.  
  25. LiveWire also includes a deinstall program (DEINST.EXE)
  26. that will remove LiveWire completely from your system.

  143. Using the TAP Image Viewer (PMView)
  144.  
  145. PMView is a popular shareware image viewing and 
  146. manipulation program written by Peter Nielsen. 
  147.  
  148. When installed on your system, this version of
  149. PMView will allow you to view images while 
  150. transferring them over the modem.
  151.  
  152. NOTE: PMView is NOT a part of LiveWire, it is a 
  153. separate shareware product.
  154.  
  155. Peter asked me to include the following note in my
  156. documentation. Since docs aren't complete yet, I will 
  157. include it here:
  158.  
  159. PCX and TIFF: Formats unsuitable for serial transmission
  160. --------------------------------------------------------
  161.   Some image formats are not suitable for progressive
  162. display, this goes especially for TIFF and 256 color PCX.
  163. The 256 color PCX format store its color map LAST in the
  164. file. If you're familiar with image processing you know
  165. that the color table information is absolutely required
  166. in order to be able to display the image. Thus, when
  167. PMView recieves a PCX file, it will start by reading its
  168. file header and then seek to the end of the file and
  169. retrieve the color map. This means that the image cannot be
  170. displayed at all until the last bytes of the file, i.e.
  171. the complete file, has been recieved! (PMView will sit and
  172. wait until it can read the color map, since this information
  173. is required). Note that it is only the 256-color variant
  174. of PCX that stores the color map last, but OTOH this is the
  175. most common type of PCX files.
  176.   The TIFF format is very flexible and allowes the creator
  177. of a TIFF file to place data practicly *anywhere* in the
  178. file. Therefore it's impossible to say whether a specific
  179. TIFF variant will be displayed progressively or not; some may
  180. some may not. In any case: if it only is possible to display
  181. a file progressively, PMView will!
