cc:MAIL DIRECTORY Utility
by: Keith Luken
(c)copyright 1996
KL-DIR is a utility to overcome the lack of automated directory listing
requests in the cc:MAIL Mobile product. The only LOTUS supported method to get
the initial directory listing to a Mobile user it to manually EXPORT the
directory listing and then manually create a message to the user with the
listing attached!! Insane, huh! I suspect you, like myself, are too busy to
keep doing this repeative and manual process!! Well KL-DIR will do this for
you! You set up an ID in your POST OFFICE for KL-DIR to use. Then users simply
send messages to that ID and KL-DIR will respond with a directory listing.
All you cc:MAIL administrators will be free to spend your valuable time on the
tasks that matter! The Start minimized check box should be self explanatory,
as well as the Enable Logs item. The status viewer will automatically clear
itself just before each 201st cylce during it's current run. It is up to you
to purge the LOG FILE periodically. You must place the included REXXVIM.DLL
file in a directory that is listed in your OS/2 LIBPATH. You also need to
have the OS/2 VIM interface loaded on the workstation that you run KL-DIR on.
You can download the LOTUS VIM files from CIS and Lotus' BBS as VDLOS2.ZIP.
Just place the files in your \OS2\DLL directory and you will NOT need to have
cc:MAIL client installed!
Configuration Options:
When you start KL-DIR for the first time on a system it should take you
directly into the configuration screen. This data is very straight forward.
You select the ADD button to add a PO/ID line that you then can directly
edit by using the mouse to select the field then hold the ALT key while
slecting foeld with Mouse button 1 (usually left button).
The PO Path is the path from the system that KL-DIR is running on.
The PO Name is the PO Name that KL-DIR will be a USER on and will check for
mail. The PO Password is the password of the Post Office that KL-DIR will be
using. KL-DIR cc:MAIL ID is the cc:MAIL Id that KL-DIR will be checking for
messages. KL-DIR ID Password is the Password assigned to the ID on cc:MAIL that
KL-DIR will be using. There is NO VALIDITY CHECKING DONE!! It is YOUR
RESPONSIBILTY to make sure the information you provide on the configuration
pages is of the proper lenghts and syntax for cc:MAIL. The Check Interval
is the interval, in minutes, between when KL-DIR checks for messages. The
maximum is 720 (12 Hours). If you want it to only check once a day let me know
and I'll raise this. I suspect that most people will want this to check at
least once an hour.
On the the EXPORT file and EXPORT Command fieldsare where uou set up
the EXACT command that will be issued to generate the Directory Listing.
The default entry should be fine for most users. The only change I would
make would be to add a FULL drive and path to the @CCMUPDAT.
(i.e. @M:\CCADMIN\CCMUPDAT) to be sure where the file will
be placed. You then need to put the full drive and path into the EXPORT FILE
field. This assures where CCMUPDAT will be placed and found!! I DO NOT hard
code the EXPORT function to allow you to customize it for you environment.
This allows you to export data in any way you desire for your users.
The Export Command line has several variables you can use to save not having
to make duplicate info here or possibly making a typo that:
[PO-Name] = Post Office Name entry
[PO-Path] = Post Office Path entry
[PO-Password] = Post Office Password entry
[EXPORT-File] = Filename entered for EXPORT File name
These variable are NOT case sensitive.
The ability to configure multiple PO/ID combinations gives you the most
flexibility. You can now have different ID's on a PO to process different
directory requests. Or you can have the same ID reside on multiple POs so
that each PO can get a precise listing as you tailor it! The EXPORT Command
field is processed as you tailor it so you can use KL-DIR to synchronize
PO listings and even IMPORT lisitings. It can be used to do remote administration
by executing maintenance commands in a CMD file and haveing the output file
be attached to the reply!! KL-DIR allows you to be extremely creative.
The SHAREWARE version has the following limitations:
- No LOG file support
- Start Minimized is disabled
- Check Interval is FIXED at 120 regardless of what you set it to
- Maximum of 1 Directory requests processed per interval
Registration:
KL-DIR can be registered for $50. The registration is also good for
any other PHANTASM Software Commercial products. I will be releasing
several other cc:MAIL and LAN products over the next few months and
those products (commercial class) are a seperate line from
my consumer oriented line (KL-ZIP, KLBENCH, Schedule-IT!)
If you already have an ID for the consumer line it will be recognized
as valid for the commercial line until 1/1/96.
LICENSE
This software is shareware and may be used for 30 days after which you must
stop using it unless you register it. Registration entitiles you to have only
one copy of this program running at any time. You may install this software
on as many systems as you like as long as only one copy is running!!
Unlimited corporate licenses start as low as $500 for single release and
$1000 for all future releases. Volume discounts for 5 or more copies are
negotiagted individually and start as low as $100.
To contact me it is best to leave me, Keith Luken, messages on
OS/2 Shareware BBS or you may fax me at 770-977-2263.
I generally check my Compuserve ID (75627,563) 3-4 times a week so this is the
best way to get me fast!
To register send check or money order to:

-------------
- Released inital beta version
1.00 08/13/95
-------------
- Released initial version
1.01 08/21/95
-------------
- OPPS! Fixed bug, KL-DIR was accidently loading the LAN-Server Rexx Functions which
caused an error if you didn't have them. You don't need them for KL-DIR. This is
fixed now!
1.02 08/31/95
-------------
- Added Silent mode option
1.10 09/19/95
-------------
- Lowered minimum interval to 5 min. Initial run will still be from 5-15 min.
- Added "Single Run Immediate" MODE! If you pass a command line argument
of IMMEDIATE then approximately 20-30 seconds after starting KL-DIR will
check the mail ID and process any pending actions and EXIT when complete.
This allows you to use an external utility (i.e. Schedule-IT!) to schedule
when you process requests!
1.50 09/23/95 (WARNING!! IMPORTANT INFO READ THIS!!)
-------------
- Added ability of KL-DIR to monitor multiple IDs on multiple Post Offices!
All the Post Offices must be directly accessible (i.e. Local drive
or network drive) for KL-DIR is. Each entry is processed completly before
proceeding to next PO/ID combination. Be sure not to set your interval too
low if you plan on processing numerous PO/ID combos! Previous version
KL-DIR.INI files are NOT compatable with this version!! You should backup
your old KL-DIR.EXE and KL-DIR.INI files before running this version.
1.52 10/16/95
-------------
