Irish Setter
An OS/2 configuration utility for the
BitSurfr Pro* Terminal Adapter
I developed this little utility for my own use, since Motorola Corporation*
not support OS/2 in any way. Therefore I refuse any responsibility for what may
happen to your equipment due to the use of this program. Be sure to backup all
important information and use a virus checker to make sure this copy is clean.
Although, does if a virus has been inserted in all likelihood this message would not
have been left to warn you. I wrote this utility to save and read one file and one file
only to the HD(hard drive); if is does more than that, I did not write it. Of course,
multiple configuration files are possible, since I wanted to allow users to be able to
address more than one terminal adapter; however, ONLY configuration files should
be loaded and saved.
Make sure that you have VROBJ.DLL somewhere in the LIBPATH(I believe). I just
place it in my "x":\OS2\DLL directory and everything works fine.
Upon startup, you will have nothing set except the Serial Port, which is
initialized at "1." You will need to set it first of all if this is the first time you will
be using Irish Setter, or if you have started it to set another terminal adapter.
Choose the type of Central Office Switch that the telco(telephone company)
provided and the software revision, if any. Changing the Switch type is very
important, because when you change the Switch type all else is cleared; yes, all the
SPIDs, Directory Numbers and TEIs. Choose the Switch Menu and click on Set Switch;
next, choose the Switch menu and click on Set Software. Remember when you set
the new switch type everything else is cleared!!! I don't know why Motorola did it
this way, but this is the way they did it.
Type all the numbers in for the SPIDs(Service Profile IDentifiers) and Directory
Numbers. The numbers can be from 7 to 24 digits in length, depending on the
telephone company(ISDN provider). After each, or all for that matter, have been
filled in click on "SET" for each one. That will do what it says and send the settings
individually to the T/A(terminal adapter).
Choose the Store & Reset menu and click on Store; then, choose the Store &
Reset menu and click on Reset.
The Ring menu is for turning on the ring for local sets. Click on On and the
lines will start ringing any phones attached. Click on Off and the ring will stop.
I can be reached at: tombell@america.com(as of July 27, 1997).
If you have any (polite & helpful)suggestions please drop me a line.
I also provided Irish CID for your enjoyment; don't forget to read about it.
