ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. Help for Video Definitions ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
These options let you set default values which affect the appearance and
behavior of the display.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Cursor Type ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The cursor displayed during online terminal emulation may be Underline, Partial
Block, Half Block Top, Half Block Bottom, Centerline, or Full Block.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Image Size ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select 24 rows x 80 columns to initialize the emulation in 80-column mode.
Select 24 rows x 132 columns to initialize the emulation in 132-column mode.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Auto-line Wrap ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Note: This parameter also is known as Automatic New Line.
When enabled, this option specifies that the cursor should automatically move
to the first character position in the next line when data is entered in the
last position on the current line. If the current line is the last line on the
screen and scrolling is enabled, the screen will scroll.
If this option is disabled, the cursor will stick at the last position of the
current line. Additional data entered or received will overwrite the display
position until a cursor movement command, such as a carriage return, is
processed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. Page Mode ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This option sets the scrolling mode of the terminal. When Page Mode is
enabled, scrolling is disabled and functions which normally cause scrolling
will cause a wraparound to the top row.
When Page Mode is disabled, scrolling is enabled and the cursor will continue
to scroll down one line at a time, each time the cursor is sent past the column
limit on the last line of the displayed screen area.
Note: Page Mode is dependent on the Auto-line Wrap option being enabled.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. CR after LF ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
If this option is enabled, Softerm automatically performs a carriage return
function (cursor to first display position) in addition to a linefeed function
(cursor down one line) whenever a linefeed character (0A hex) is received. If
this option is disabled, no additional processing is performed for linefeed
characters.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. LF after CR ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
If this option is enabled, Softerm automatically performs a linefeed function
(cursor down one line) in addition to a carriage return function (cursor to
first display position) whenever a carriage return character (0D hex) is
received. If this option is disabled, no additional processing is performed
for carriage return characters.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. Help for Operating Mode ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Operating Mode determines whether the emulation can display only the
standard 128 ASCII character codes or the entire 256-character set.
Note: The Communications Parameters must be set for 8 data bits and no parity
for 8-bit mode to be fully operational.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 9. Operating Mode ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Select either 7-Bit or 8-Bit for the operating mode of the emulation.
If 7-Bit operating mode is selected, the characters displayed are limited to
the standard 128 ASCII character codes.
If 8-Bit operating mode is selected, the characters displayed can include the
entire 256-character set of the personal computer including graphics
characters.
Note: The Communications Parameters must be set for 8 data bits and no parity
for 8-bit mode to be fully operational.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 10. Help for Status Line Definition ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Determine the default setting for whether or not an information status line
will be displayed when in the Session Window (online terminal emulation).
If a status line is to be displayed, determine the default setting for the date
and time format to be used; and determine whether the ANSI 3.64 Status Line or
the standard Softerm Status Line will be displayed.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. Status Line Preference ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
If the ANSI 3.64 Status Line is selected, the status information displayed will
include cursor position; host-initiated modes; host messages; edit area; and
keyboard lock status.
The standard Softerm Status Line displays some or all of the following:
o Online or Local mode
o Connect status
o Duplex setting
o Capture status
o CapsLock state
o NumLock state
o Date and Time or Connect Time
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. Status Line Time Format ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Date/Time
Choose this setting for the status line to display the current date and
time.
Connect Time
Choose this setting for the status line to display the length of time the
connection has been established.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 13. Status Line Display ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
On The status line will be displayed when you are in the Session Window
(online terminal emulation mode).
Off The status line will not be displayed when you are in the Session
Window (online terminal emulation mode).
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 14. Help for Device Settings ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The Device Settings let you specify how Softerm is to identify itself when
queried; and the destination for data sent to the Primary and Auxiliary print
devices.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 15. Terminal Device Attribute Code ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The option Terminal Device Attribute Code lets you specify Device Attributes by
which your Terminal may be identified. To use this, you must enter a numeric
value as defined by the ANSI standard. Softerm then will send the following
string in reply to a device attribute function:
ESC nn c
where nn = the numeric value that you entered.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 16. Printer Device Attribute Code ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The option Printer Device Attribute Code lets you specify Device Attributes by
which your Printer may be identified. To use this, you must enter a numeric
value as defined by the ANSI standard. Softerm then will send the following
string in reply to a device attribute function:
ESC nn c
where nn = the numeric value that you entered.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 17. Primary Auxiliary Device ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The option Primary Auxiliary Device specifies the device to which incoming data
will be copied when commanded by the host. The Primary Auxiliary Device
defaults to Printer and may be set to Disk.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 18. Secondary Auxiliary Device ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
The option Secondary Auxiliary Device specifies the device to which incoming
data will be copied when commanded by the host. The Secondary Auxiliary Device
defaults to Disk but may be set to Printer.
