  3. Thank you for participating in our beta-test program.
  4.  
  5. The following limitations are known:
  6.  
  7. -> AMR does NOT reliably run with WARP beta I. Some functions of this
  8.    OS/2 release are seriously damaged. However, WARP beta II does work
  9.    fine, as does OS/2 V3 Warp, all releases.
  10.  
  11. -> The documentation is not fully developed yet. Please make notes or
  12.    suggestions we might incorporate in our final release. All
  13.    documentation currently supplied is on-line. We intend to keep it
  14.    that way.

  16. Installing instructions:
  17.  
  18. Please execute the install program from the directory you unpacked into.
  19.  
  20. After having installed AMR, using the install program, please be sure to
  21. configure the following items:
  22.  
  23. 1. Setup=>Conference, This option defines global settings for all new
  24.    maildatabases.
  25.  
  26. 2. Setup=>General, please define correct paths to your directories and
  27.    unpackers. You can NOT specify a root directory.
  28.  
  29. More details are available in the online help.

  31. Modifications made resulting into the first public release:
  32. -> Added a test to suspend background packet processing if the used
  33.    packet/area is opened by the message-browser.
  34. -> Background unpacking scans the download directory each minute for
  35.    the availability of new packets.
  36. -> Improved Find interface and processing.
  37. -> Second Mouse Button now shows pop-up menu whenever available.

  40. Modifications made to beta release 4:
  41. -> Oldest .QWK files are processed first (FIFO)
  42. -> If you do not specify a textviewer, AMR uses it's internal viewer.
  43. -> Font selection now only selects fonts that are available for all
  44.    languages.
  45. -> Editor and browser are now "iconized" on minimize.
  46. -> Proper disabling of screen behind browser and editor.
  47. -> Repeatedly pressing ALT-F4 should not produce a SYSTEM error.
  48. -> Esc now terminates the editor too.
  49. -> Improved "first time" setup.
  50. -> EXE directory can be queried for by DDE.
  51. -> It's now possible to edit a message.
  52. -> Index/messagelist now shows the proper colors for the "From" column.
  53. -> DDE automatic message update is now possible.
  54. -> More stabile Date & Time layout-detection from the OS2.INI file.
  55. -> Improved HELP disabling if no help-file is found.
  56. -> No tagline is added if you did not select one.

  59. Modifications made to beta release 3:
  60. -> The index/messagelist is improved; uses color and proportional font.
  61.  
  62. -> New switch: Allow duplicates, this allows duplicates for an entire
  63.    messagedatabase. If this option is checked, the following applies:
  64.    Duplicate messages get a new unique number starting at 100000. This
  65.    avoids messages being rejected from the database but it also allows
  66.    you to pollute your database.
  67.  
  68. -> Import of QWK packets improved. There are some systems that do not
  69.    generate messagenumbers at all!
  70.  
  71. -> Total number of messages now shows number of messages in last packet.
  72.    (Info-window showed the total available number of messages)
  73.  
  74. -> If no "%1" argument was specified in the global settings an incomplete
  75.    command could be issued. Now, if no "%1" is found, the arguments are
  76.    simply appended to the command.
  77.  
  78. -> Automatic management of Welcome, New Files, News, Bulletins and Goodbye
  79.    did not always update those files under certain circumstances.
  80.  
  81. -> Available as separate utilities, you can convert CompuServe and Squish
  82.    messagefiles to .QWK format files.
  83.  
  84.    These files are available as:
  85.      CS2QWK.Lzh : CompuServe message to QWK message format converter.
  86.      SQ2QWK.Lzh : Squish message to QWK message format converter. These
  87.                   messages use the unique messagenumber from the .SQI file
  88.                   and not a squential number!
